Revelation of Faith Part 5

You see, every child of God overcomes the world, for our faith is the victorious power that triumphs over the world. 1 John 5: 4 TPT

Faith is an overcoming force in a believer’s life over all the forces of this world. As we have already established, our faith is believing in Christ and His finished work. It is not faith in our ability or human connections, but having the God kind of faith. The God kind of faith, is the faith that has rested in the finished work of Christ. A believer’s faith is different from the faith of a successful person, who does not know God. The faith of a believer is in Christ’s finished work. It is this kind of faith that overcomes the world. One can be successful but yet subdued by the world.

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Hebrews 3: 18, 19

Faith is rest in the finished work of Christ. The children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years because of their unbelief. They doubted God and His promises. Israel had witnessed tremendous power of God, the ten wonders in Egypt, the parting of the Red sea, the provisions of water from the rock and the manna, but yet did not believe. This tells us that miracles do not have the capacity to change the heart of man. Israel saw and was a witness of God’s miraculous wonders, but yet remained in doubt and unbelief. The faith that overcomes the world is the faith that stems from rest in Christ’s finished work.

Now God has offered to us the same promise of entering into his realm of resting in confident faith. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it. For we have heard the good news of deliverance just as they did, yet they didn’t join their faith with the Word. Instead, what they heard didn’t affect them deeply, for they doubted. For those of us who believe, faith activates the promise and we experience the realm of confident rest! For he has said, “I was grieved with them and made a solemn oath, ‘They will never enter into the calming rest of my Spirit.’ ” God’s works have all been completed from the foundation of the world.
