A Treasure In Earthen Vessel
A TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSEL
2 Corinthians 4: 1 – 9
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Treasure in Jars of Clay
2 Corinthians 4:7 -9
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.
There is a treasure hidden inside the earthen vessel. There is a treasure hidden in every mess. The treasure is the message. There is a treasure hidden in a setback. The treasure is the setup for greater glory. There is a treasure hidden in a test. The treasure is a testimony of God’s might power. There is a treasure hidden in rejection. The treasure is the discovery that God loves you unconditionally. There is a treasure hidden in pain. The treasure is the joy that out lasts the weeping. Psalm 30: 5. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. There is a treasure hidden in our today’s challenge of covid-19. The treasure is our overcoming faith. Our faith shall be stretched and strengthened.
Because of the TREASURE in the earthen vessel, you are winning without doubt. The treasure cannot allow you to be a victim, but a victor. The treasure in the earthen vessel attracts the kind of battles you are facing or faced in your life. The greater the treasure, the greater will be the battles. Heavy weight treasure attracts heavy battles. Costly treasure will attract costly battles. The treasure in your earthen vessel is heavenly and is priceless. It has no price tag but the blood of Jesus Christ.
You came from God, therefore have been endued with God’s purpose and potential. That’s why, you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you. Philippians 4 13. Your earthen vessel, which is the body accommodates you and eternal purposes of God. Your physical manifestation is a sign that God’s eternal purpose is about to be unveiled through you. In the beginning God said, Let us make man… Genesis 1: 26 – 28
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said… and then God blessed them. He eulogized them. The eulogy was the purpose God had made man in His image. Verse 28. He spoke well over them. In Genesis 2: 7, God breathed into man’s nostrils, not oxygen but He breathed in Genesis 1: 28. God does not breath in oxygen, but the air God breathes is His Word.
Psalm 33: 4
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Jesus said His word is Spirit and life.
John 6: 63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
