The Voice of God

The Voice of God

By Apostle Felix

1  Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another.
2  But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through him God created the panorama of all things and all time.

Hebrews 1: 1, 2

The voice of God is very significant in believing God for the impossibility. A man or woman who hears God is capable of believing God for great things. A thriving christian life is one that has the capacity to hear the voice of God. However, the voice one listens to, determines the kind and nature of the person one turns out to be. The secret to life is the voice one chooses to listen to. Not every voice is good for you. Always have the discretion to judge the voice that you would like to listen to with the word.

1  Delightfully loved friends, don’t trust every spirit, but carefully examine what they say to determine if they are of God, because many false prophets have mingled into the world.
1 John 4: 1

It is the responsibility of every believer test every spirit, or rather the voice they intend to listen to or have been listening to. The challenge with many is how to identify the false voice from the true voice. This indeed can be a challenge, especially in our time when information is so easily accessible. It has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that you can easily find the information you have been looking for, but the disadvantage is that the novice may fall prey of wrong information that can be very misleading. How can one then identify the voice of God?

27  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
John 6: 27

51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
John 6: 51

Prior to the incidence where Jesus had challenged the people to eat the bread of life, He had just  multiplied bread and fish for the people to eat. The multiplication of bread and fish reminded them of Moses, who was used by God to provide manna for the children of Israel for forty years. Moses was highly regarded in Israel as a prophet of God, whom God had raised to deliver Israel. He was looked at as a political deliverer whom God had raised to deliver them from the tyranny political system of the Egyptians. When they saw Jesus multiply food, they then saw Him as a political leader who could deliver them from the Roman rule.

14  Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
15  When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

John 6: 14, 15

The people remembered the words of Moses of promising them a prophet greater than him.

15  “The LORD your God will raise up a prophet like me for you from among your relatives. You must listen to him.
Deuteronomy 18: 15

Jesus confronted the people about the voice that they have to listen to in order to have eternal life. He was not literally asking people to eat His flesh and drink His blood, but was emphasizing the need of listening to words of life than chasing after miracles. Moses prophesied of the coming Messiah, whom the people should listen to. Unfortunately, there are so many voices the people are listening to that have caused so much confusion in the body of Christ.

The voice of God is Christ. The language of God is Christ. The mode of communication is Christ. In order to know the voice of God, you need to know Christ. Moses admonished the nation of Israel to hear Him. The same words God repeated on the mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17, when He said, ‘This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.’ Moses and Elijah had appeared and stood with Jesus. The Three disciples were awed and Peter suggested to make three tents for Moses, Elijah and Jesus. At that moment, a cloud covered them and a voice spoke from the cloud concerning the Christ. The voice of God, the Father Himself directed the disciples to the voice to listen to. Jesus is the voice of God. He is the Word of God. He is the revelation of God.
