The Spirit of Revelation
By Apostle Felix
Eph 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:Ephesians 1: 16, 17
The word revelation comes from a Greek word, apokalupsis, which means to uncover, the drawing away by Christ of the veil of darkness covering the people. It is also the communication of the knowledge of God to the soul of man. It is an expression of the mind of God to make His mysteries known to man.
3 For this wonderful mystery, which I briefly described, was given to me by divine revelation,
4 so that whenever you read it you will be able to understand my revelation and insight into the secret mystery of the Messiah.Ephesians 3: 3, 4
Since time immemorial, God had always wanted to reveal Himself to man. He created man so that He can reflect His nature in the earth through man. Adam, the first man was created for the same purpose of reflecting the very character of God in the earth. Adam was only forbidden to eat from one tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; and he was permitted to eat from the rest of the trees, including the tree of life. But Adam and his wife, Eve settled for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Upon eating from the tree, man was kept away from the tree of life and God, in His mercy, concealed the tree of life from man. And since then man has been looking for illumination from other sources. The only source of true knowledge is God. Adam was the first man to seek knowledge that was independent of the Christ. Any knowledge that fails to acknowledge the supremacy of Christ is diabolical. Christ is the knowledge and wisdom of God.
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1 Corinthians 1: 24
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
2 Corinthians 2: 7
The Spirit of revelation has been given to the body of Christ for the purpose of revealing Christ. He is also called the Spirit of truth, who leads the children into all truth. You cannot be born of God and at the same time deprived of the revelation of Christ. Christ is in you , and it is the work of the Holy Spirit to unveil the Christ in us. And how does the Spirit of revelation make Christ known to us? It is through the word of God. The Spirit of revelation does not work independent of the word of God. He works where the knowledge of God is present. What many people call the Spirit of revelation today is not, but is the spirit of divination. The Spirit of revelation’s focus is on revealing Christ to His people, and not revealing home addresses and cell phone numbers. Jesus did not send the Holy Spirit to come and tell us which European football team will win a soccer match. That’s absurd. By the way, the church service is not a place we go to so that our problems can solved. We come to learn Christ. It is when we know Him that we will know how to deal with our problems on our own.
15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
