The Promised Seed

THE PROMISED SEED

By Apostle Felix

15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3: 15

The fall of man is the worst tragedy that has ever occurred in the history of mankind. It disrupted man’s order of operation in the earth. Man was created to Lord over creation, but the fall made man to become subservient to creation. The earth and all its inhabitants became hostile toward man. Before the fall, creation was subservient to man. That order, made it possible for man to name all the animals on earth. That was a colossal assignment and it needed the cooperation of animals. But the fall introduced hostility and rebellion. The animals became wild and aggressive towards man. It was not so from the beginning. The animals all behaved like were tamed by man. The earth itself was subservient to man. But the fall provoked the earth to become less productive as God had intended. This was the saddest moment in the history of mankind.

16  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Galatians 3: 16

God, promised the Seed that shall be born to redeem mankind. The promise of the Seed was made the day man sinned against the Lord. Man was looking forward to the coming of the promised Seed for his redemption. The devil was also on alert to terminate the Seed at all cost. For four thousand years, the devil was attempting to kill every person he suspected to be the seed promised by God. He was on trial and error. The reason why the devil could not easily figure out who the promised seed was, was because the Seed was concealed in types and shadows.

7  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8  Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

1 Corinthians 2: 7, 8

The seed was hidden in personalities, events, Jewish feasts and rituals. This was God’s wisdom at display, and the devil could not figure it out. He tried by all means to corrupt the seed but to no avail. We see the devil’s efforts to corrupt the seed in Genesis chapter six, when he planted his seed in the lineage of Seth. After the death of Abel, Cain was exiled to a far land of Nod and he established his kingdom. We find Cain’s lineage in Genesis chapter 4: 16 to 22. Adam and Eve started another family, and gave birth to Seth. So, chapter five of Genesis gives the genealogy of Seth.

1  And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Genesis 6: 1 – 2

The above scripture has been misunderstood and misinterpreted as to mean angels married the daughters of men. But Jesus said that angels of God do not marry.

29  Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30  For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Matthew 22: 29, 30

From Jesus’ words then we can conclude to say that sons of God mentioned in Genesis chapter six are not angels but humans. It is possible that the men from Cain’s lineage married women from Seth’s lineage. Of course, Cain was a corrupt man and his descendants too were corrupt. God had preserved Seth’s lineage for the promised seed. But the intermarriage between Seth and Cain corrupted the lineage and God had to destroy that generation with the flood. He preserved only eight people; Noah and his wife, and his three sons, namely; Seth, Japheth and Ham and their wives. The incidence in Genesis chapter six verse one had to do with the promised seed. The devil wanted to frustrate the plan of God of giving the seed for man’s redemption.
