THE PROMISED SEED PART 2
By Apostle Felix
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
Galatians 3: 16
The contentions in the Bible, especially the Old Testament are to do with the promised seed. The enemy was all out to frustrate the coming of the promised seed, which is Jesus Christ. From Abel to John the Baptist, and the in between conflicts had one motivation – to terminate the promised seed.
15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;
Luke 3: 15
The people supposedly thought John the baptist was the Christ. The Jewish community was anticipating the coming of the Messiah for their liberation from the Roman rule. The Romans too, were looking out for the coming of the Jewish Messiah so that they could kill the seed before the emancipation is carried out. The seed was the centre of all conflicts in the Bible.
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Genesis 6: 1, 2
I briefed talked about Genesis 6 in the previous devotion, in the context of the sons of God been mortal men, not angels as it is supposedly believed. Angels of God do not marry and cannot marry according to Jesus’ words. I think we can trust Jesus’ words above our own assumptions. A teaching on spiritual husbands is actually drawn from that passage of scripture. But honestly, that passage of scripture is not addressing spiritual husbands or anything to do with that. God called the offspring of the sons of God and daughters of men as man. Only a man and a woman can produce a fellow man. In Genesis chapter 6 verse 5, God saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and his imagination of the thoughts was evil. What happened was an intermarriage between the descendants of Cain, and the descendants of Seth. The men from Cain came and married the women from Seth’s lineage. The purpose was to contaminate the lineage of Seth, because God had promised that a seed shall come through a woman. These were mere, wicked men who had been under the influence of Cain. This man Cain was under the influence of the anti Christ spirit from the beginning. The killing of Abel was an effort of satan to terminate the promised seed. And satan used Cain to carry out the evil assignment. Cain came under a spirit that was against the promised seed. We can actually trace that spirit through the pages of the Bible. The anti Christ was not born after Jesus was born. It was there before Christ’s incarnation.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Genesis 6: 7, 8
The purpose of destruction of the earth and man by the flood was a preservation of the lineage of promised seed. Noah found favour in God’s sight because his family had stayed away from the corruption that was on earth. God talked to Noah about the corruption in the earth because Noah was not involved in it.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Genesis 6: 13
God had found a man He could use to bring His seed through. That was Noah. Not because he was a perfect man in every way. No, Noah had issues of his own but his selection had to do with his abhorrence of the trend of his time, the intermarriages. He did not allow himself to be defiled and his family with the corruption of his day.
