The Power of Vision 2

The Power of Vision

By Apostle Felix

2  And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2: 2, 3

In yesterday’s devotion, we looked at how Habakkuk petitioned God regarding the condition Judah as a nation was in. God’s response was not so favourable with Habakkuk. He hoped God to give a response that was in favour with Judah. Though Judah had rebelled against God, Habakkuk wanted God to defend his people from the enemies. He, of course argued from human point of view. Habakkuk was emotionally attached to his people. But God was purpose driven. He was looking at the bigger picture of why He had called out Israel as a nation. Vision is not followed through emotionally. It is deep conviction driven. It is protected by upholding godly values in uncomprising stance. Great men with great visions fell because they compromised on values. if we allow emotions dominate us, we may find it challenging to pursue our visions. We have to be resolute and decisive to effectively pursue our visions.

10  And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
Genesis 39: 10

Vision has this tendency of attracting things that may frustrate it. Joseph became an attraction to his master’s wife. This was not because of his physical built as a handsome young man. I believe there were many handsome young men in Egypt but Joseph stood out because of what he carried. He had a vision from God whose intent was to preserve the lineage of Christ. He was under the mission of God therefore he became a target of the enemy. He resisted the temptation by upholding the godly values in his life. He refused to succumb. Even though he had no idea why God had to allow him to be sold into Egypt, he refused to go against the values of God.

9  There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

Genesis 39: 9

Joseph refused to sin not because he was expecting any instant reward from his decision. In fact he knew the consequences of rejecting the madam’s advances. Of course, he landed in prison not because he sinned but because he resisted to sin. Little did he know that the prison is a place God had ordained for him to meet with destine. I believe day after day, he wondered why God had to allow him to be incarcerated when he was falsely accused. it was very painful for a young man, who had a dream of greatness. But greatness was waiting for him right in unlikely place, the prison. Child of God, do not lose the sight of that vision God had shown to you. No matter what happens, God is faithful to fulfill His promises. God is not led by emotions or circumstances. He does not react to what is happening around. He does not make decisions based on the current events. He declares the end from the beginning. Your future has already been declared by God. You may found yourself in the most dark moment of your life, do not give up. Remain faithful to God and will lead you all the way. The path may be rough sometimes but the Lord orders the steps of the righteous.

23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Psalm 37: 23
