The Power of the Blessing
By Apostle Felix
15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.Galatians 3: 15, 16
God’s intention from the beginning for man was for man live under the blessing. God does not change. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. God intended man to reign and dominate by the blessing. He blessed Adam and Eve for the purpose of man to represent God correctly and effectively. He made man in His image and after His likeness. The image relates to character, while the likeness relates to ability to emulate God.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Genesis 1: 26
God made man with His character and put a demand upon man to reproduce which God had deposited in him. God will never demand anything from us without first supplying. He will always ask because He has already provided. So, God blessed man as a means to empower man to accomplish which God had commanded him to do. The blessed Adam, named all the animals without consulting any encyclopedia. He drew from within himself, the God potential to name the animals. The names Adam gave to animals were not to individual animals, but this were names to do with the identification of specific group of animals, according to their kind. That was a colossal task but the blessing made it easy.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.Genesis 2: 19, 20
The blessing did not leave the human realm, but was only limited by the fall of man. The blessing is a family inheritance, that comes from father to son. It was never meant for servants. Adam was never created as a servant, but as a son. The fall of man was a form of despising his birthright as a son. That was also Esau’s sin. He despised his birthright, hence forfeited the blessing. Despite the blessing been around, it could not rest upon Esau because he had despised and rejected his birthright. Adam despised and rejected the position he had in God, hence the blessing could not do what it was meant to do.
2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.Genesis 15: 2 – 4
Abraham wanted to pass on the blessing to Eliezer, his servant. God objected and promised Abraham that his son shall inherit the blessing. The blessing is not for servants, but sons. The blessing is the family affair. This is the reason why God became man and dwelt amongst us, as Immanuel. Immanuel simply means God has become one of us. He became one of us, took our sins and curses and laid them on Himself as the Son of man. The Bible tells us that He became a curse so that we can be blessed.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.Galatians 3: 13, 14
A curse is an empowered to do and produce results which are contrary to the blessing. Jesus on the cross, became a curse for us so that we can be blessed. Jesus died in rejection and weakness under a dark cloud of humanity’s curse, but He rose in the power of the Spirit and conquered sin and death.
4 but as the mighty Son of God he was raised from the dead and miraculously set apart with a display of triumphant power supplied by the Spirit of Holiness. And now Jesus is our Lord and our Messiah.
Romans 1: 4
Since Jesus rose in the power of the Spirit, the blessing that rests upon us is a product of power. You cannot be blessed of the Lord and be a defeat. By this blessing, may you reign in every area of life the Lord has called you. This blessing will make you to stand out like Joseph in Egypt. You will not have competition, but you are only going to compete with your yesterday’s victories. You are blessed and empowered.
