The Mystery of Christ Revealed

7  Instead, we continually speak of this wonderful wisdom that comes from God, hidden before now in a mystery. It is his secret plan, destined before the ages, to bring us into glory.

8  None of the rulers of this present world order understood it, for if they had, they never would have crucified the Lord of shining glory.

1 Corinthians 2: 7, 8

A mystery is something that cannot be understood using mental faculties, but can only be understood by revelation. It is also not a comprehensible matter until its meaning is revealed. Christ cannot be understood intellectually. He is the revelation. Unfortunately, some have been trying to know Christ intellectually.

22  For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 

23  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 

24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 

1 Corinthians 1: 22 – 24

Christ is a mystery to those who would want to know Christ according to the flesh. He can only be known by the Spirit. The revelation of Christ was hidden in types and shadows, and satan did not understand or rather interpret the meaning of the types and shadows of the Old Testament. Otherwise, if had known, he was not going to participate in the cruxification of Christ. Christ was hidden.

Gen 3:23  Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 

24  So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. 

Genesis 3: 23, 24

Before the fall of man, God communed with man without a veil. Man had direct access to God  without shame or fear. The relationship was open and their were no go betweens. It is the fall that introduced mediators and all the ministers we see in the church today. God spoke to man, face to face about the tree of good and evil. God presented Eve to Adam. So, the  relationship they had was without a veil. Adam and Eve operated in the revelation of God. They were completely dressed in light because of the presence of God. Adam and Eve had no fear or anxiety in their environment. They had total dominion over creation. That’s why Eve could keep a conversation with a snake without fear. But after the fall, man was gripped with fear, and had to go and hide from God. They  covered themselves with fig leaves because they were ashamed of their nakedness. Then after God had spoken to them, He left an angel to guard the tree of life from Adam and Eve. God concealed life from man to avoid man eating from the tree of life in the state man was in. From that time and until the death and the resurrection of Christ, God was communicating His message through types and shadows. The message was hidden, it was a mystery. Another reason why God protected the tree of life from man was because the life of God can only be received by grace through faith. Adam and Eve were longer in faith, but fear. All their actions were motivated by fear. The revelation of salvation through Christ was going to be affected negatively if Adam and Eve had eaten from the tree of life. .
