The importance of Fellowship 1

The Importance of Fellowship

By Apostle Felix

24  Discover creative ways to encourage others and to motivate them toward acts of compassion, doing beautiful works as expressions of love.
25  This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other! In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning.

Hebrews 10: 24, 25

Fellowship is an ancient practice that has transcended generations. It is not a new phenomenal but has been there from time immemorial. It is a human need. Man was never created to live in isolation. Mad people are known to live in isolation because their minds have been taken in most cases by demonic forces. The mad man Jesus found in the graveyard was living isolation, in the land of the dead. Isolation has a tendency to kill the victim spiritually, emotionally and psychologically. Below are few reasons why fellowship is important.

1. It encourages mutual encouragement and accountability.
2. Jesus reassures us of His presence when we come together, highlighting the significance of community in our faith.

20  For wherever two or three come together in honor of my name, I am right there with them!”
Matthew 18: 20

3. The early church exemplified community through shared worship, teaching, and fellowship, which led to growth and spiritual nourishment.

47  They were continually filled with praises to God, enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were coming to life.

Acts 2: 47

The Importance of Fellowship
• Spiritual Nourishment: Regular attendance helps deepen faith through teaching, worship, and prayer.
• Fellowship: Building relationships with other believers provides support and encouragement.
• Service Opportunities: Engaging with the church community opens avenues for service, allowing individuals and families to contribute to various ministries.
Engaging with the Community
• Local Outreach: Participating in community service projects.
• Invite Friends to Church: Families can invite neighbors or friends to join them for services or church events, creating opportunities for connection and shared experiences.
• Join a Connect Group: We do have connect groups that meet every Wednesday for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. This can be a great way for families to meet others and engage in deeper discussions about faith.
• Attend Church Events: Involvement in church activities, such as evangelism, game nights, or come together party, can foster a sense of belonging and encourage connections both within the church and the wider community.
Family Engagement Ideas
1. Service Together: Serve together in church as a family. Find something that you can do as a family IN YOUR LOCAL CHURCH.
2. Bible Study Night: Set aside a weekly night for family Bible study or devotionals. Discuss the messages you receive weekly and how they apply to everyday life and community involvement.
3. Host a Neighborhood Gathering: Organize an event where you invite neighbors, including those who may not attend church. This can create a welcoming atmosphere and open up conversations about faith.
4. Participate in Church Missions: Encourage your family to partake in mission trips that your church organizes. It’s a great way to serve together and make a positive impact.
Going to church and engaging with the community is vital to living out the Christian faith. It fosters spiritual growth, allows for meaningful relationships, and enables families to serve others. As families commit to these practices, they not only strengthen their own faith but also become impactful members of their communities. Let’s encourage one another to embrace these opportunities to grow in love and service.
Service in the church is an important aspect of the Christian Walk. It reflects the heart of a committed follower of Christ, showing an understanding of His love and grace.

This devotional will explore the significance of serving in the church, how it aligns with biblical teachings, and how believers can get involved in various service opportunities.
