The God Impossibilities 2
By Apostle Felix
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
Genesis 18: 12 – 14
In the previous devotion, we looked at what God cannot do. Despite being omnipotent, it is impossible for God to sin. And again, God is not controlled by man’s desires and wishes. God is not committed to granting man’s desires and wishes. His commitment is to His word. Sometimes, Proverbs 37: 4, Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart; can be misunderstood. It is not saying that everything you desire then God is obliged to give them to you. God is not at the beckon and call of man. The key word in Proverbs 37: 4 is delight. The Hebrew word translated delight is anag, which may mean, to be pliable, soft. It is suggesting pliability to God’s will. Therefore, when you have delighted yourself in God, God’s desires become your desires by default. God granting your desires will be the fulfillment of God’s will concerning your life.
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Ephesians 3: 19 – 21
The portion of scripture above informs us that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. Oftentimes, we end here and we do not read the entire verse. But the verse continues to say that, the ability of God doing above all we ask or think is according to the power that works in us. What is that power? It is the power of His Christ, His finished work. The over and above doing of God in our lives is limited to what Jesus Christ did for us. God cannot do beyond what Jesus did. He finished the work, perfectly well. God cannot attend to something that is not in the redemptive package. However, God can also deal with individuals uniquely yet in the confines of His word. Personal encounters with God should not be in contradiction with God’s word. Below, is the general redemptive plan of God for man. Without doubt, God is able to:
- Save man to the utmost. God’s will is that all men should be saved.
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7: 25
- Heal the sick. Sickness is not God’s will and He does not inflict His people and children to teach them the ways of God. If God could be behind some of the sicknesses then it would be disobedience to seek medical attention.
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
Luke 5: 17
- Supply our needs. God supplies our needs. He knows what our needs are. He supplies our needs and also considers our faithfulness to manage the supply. God is not a waster. Jesus asked His disciples to collect the leftovers after feeding five thousand men.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4: 19
- Favour and open doors for you. God is interested in your life holistically. Jesus said that God knows the number of hair on your head. He is very meticulous with your life. God had a plan for your life before you were born into this world. Then, it is your responsibility to know the purpose of God for your life so that you can believe God for favour and open doors.
9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
1 Corinthians 16: 9
12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
