The Gift of God
By Apostle Felix
16 For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.
John 3: 16
This is the season of giving and receiving gifts. It is a season of high expectation to give and receive. Friends and relatives are sending messages of well wishes. It is a time of family reunions over meals and gift exchanging. Everyone looks forward to Christmas because of its nature of giving. Giving is the most emphasized aspect of this season. Everywhere you turn, you are greeted with this gesture of giving. Giving is the nature of God, and it expresses who God is. It is not natural to be born of God and be a withholder. It has been said that one can give without love, but it is not possible to love without giving. This is because love is expressed through giving.
2 And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration—a sweet healing fragrance.
Ephesians 5: 2
God expressed His love towards us by giving Himself. God gave Himself for the love of mankind. You cannot have the love of God and be a chronic withholder. God gave Himself as a gift of salvation. How did God give Himself? God and His Word are One. There is no distinction between God and the Word. When God speaks, He speaks Himself. God, who is the word became flesh and lived amongst us. God occupying a human flesh is the greatest gift that can ever be given to man. The gift of God to man was wrapped in the human flesh, and later died and rose from the dead to finally unwrap the gift of salvation to all men.
4 He longs for everyone to embrace his life and return to the full knowledge of the truth.
5 For God is one, and there is one Mediator between God and the sons of men—the true man, Jesus, the Anointed One.
6 He gave himself as ransom-payment for everyone. Now is the proper time for God to give the world this witness.1 Timothy 2: 4 – 6
The gift of God is for all men, regardless of who they are. It has the potency to save to the uttermost. The gifts we have received this season so far have already started to depreciate in value and some have already been consumed. But the gift of God is eternal. It does not depreciate in value with time because it is not a time bound gift. Accept this gift of God today and your life will change forever.
