The Enemies of Vision
By Apostle Felix
16 Now, remember, it is I who sends you out, even though you feel vulnerable as lambs going into a pack of wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes yet as harmless as doves.”
17 “Be on your guard! For there will be those who will betray you before their religious councils and brutally beat you with whips in their public gatherings.
18 And because you follow me, they will take you to stand trial in front of rulers and even kings as an opportunity to testify of me before them and the unbelievers.Matthew 10: 16 – 18
Vision has enemies, both externally and internally. Enemies come from within a man and without. The most dangerous of all are the enemies from within. Vision is the ability to see one’s future, and the ability to write it down. Some individuals may have the sight of their future only lacks the insight. Sight is the ability to see, while insight is the mental ability to understand the content of the vision. The inner enemy of vision oftentimes is the inability to understand the details of the vision. The help many need is on how to give details to vision, so that the reader can run with it.
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.Habakkuk 2: 2 – 3
Vision is first and foremost a mental assent. Vision is first lodged in the mind before it is acted upon. It has to be a strong conviction in your heart before it is translated into action. The enemy then can be the state of one’s mind. If the mind is corrupted with negativity, it will be close to impossibility to realize a vision. The enemies can be little things like fear, low self-esteem, stubbornness, approval addiction, lack of faith, pride, selfishness, jealousy, mediocrity, and many more negative vibes.
The enemies from without are inevitable. Every vision has enemies as it’s backdrop. The darker the sky, the brighter the stars shine. The stars are invisible to human eye during the day, but do appear vividly during the night. This is because the stars need a dark backdrop for them to shine. Every vision has been given to solve a problem. Jesus sent His disciples among the wolves for them to go and be the light. He did not send them into the church, but into the world. The world is full of wolves and snakes that can harm someone despite the good intentions.
No matter how good your intentions are, you will be opposed in fact by the same people you are helping. That does not mean you have to quit pursuing your vision. Opposition will be there. Wolves will be there seeking your harm. Castigators will be there. As long as you are on that path of pursuing your vision, castigators will be on the same path to try to pull you down. Those to despise you are doing will be there too. Remember, you need such backdrops to shine. The more you grow in vision, the more they come. The enemies are attracted to vision. In fact, vision does well in the face of troubles. It flourishes and gets stronger. David was despised but his brothers before he killed Goliath. Jesus, too, was despised by His own people, in His own village. They actually naturalized Him.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
Luke 4: 22
In your vision pursuits, people will try to remind you about your past, your educational background and sometimes the family you are coming from. Vision has a tendency to attract such kind of people. The day you start doing something for your life, enemies will come. If you do not want enemies in this life and you want everyone to love, do nothing, pursue nothing and have nothing to die for.
