The Detours In Vision Pursuits 2
By Apostle Felix
1 As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.
2 We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!Hebrews 12: 1, 2
Jesus endured the shame and rejection because He had you and me in mind. The mission of saving man was greater than the pain and shame that He went through. He refused man’s rejection to detour Him from His mission. The purpose of challenges in life is to detour you from your God given vision. Do not allow circumstances to detour you from your vision. However, the anointing of God can detour you from your personal ambitions.
David, the king of Israel had lived a life that was marked with pain and victories. His childhood was marked with rejection from his brothers. He was not even regarded as such when Samuel was sent by God to anoint one of Jesse’s sons. David was left to take care of the family business while his brothers relaxed at home. He was not on the list of those to be anointed. Just like Jesus was rejected and despised by His own people, David was also rejected by his family. But God had appointed David to carry the anointing. God has a tendency of anointing the rejected and despised.
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.1 Samuel 17: 32, 33
After been anointed, David’s life started taking drastic detours. The first detour his life took was to go and serve Saul. The king was tormented by evil spirits after the anointing had left his life. David was hired to play the harp for the king because his music soothed the king, driving away the tormenting spirit. This was a detour. It was God orchestrated though. He had to serve in the palace for him to understand the royalty protocols. You might be going through a similar situation in your life. When you are drawn to serve in the environment of your dream. You may even be serving under someone by every standard better than the person. Serve and learn. It is a detour to serve and learn.
Another detour in David’s life was when he was sent by his father to deliver food to his brothers in the battlefield. He arrived when Goliath was challenging and defying the armies of Israel. He did not go there to fight but to deliver food. That was a major detour in his life, because it activated the anointing that was upon his life. The anointing upon his life was to save Israel from it’s enemies. If his father had not called him out of the bush and sent him to deliver food, David would have not known that he was called to save Israel from defeat and shame. One detour in your life may lead to realizing the purpose of the anointing upon your life. David was not a soldier. He was just a shepherd boy, who happened to witness Goliath’s defiance of Israel. He got infuriated by it and decided to end the shame. Every anointed person is infuriated by the enemies’ activities. David rose to the occasion and defeated the giant. His life took another detour. From a nobody to a somebody. He came from obscurity to fame. David discovered something that he did not realize he was capable of. Fighting. He joined the army and became the the greatest might man of valor.
