The Content of Gospel
By Apostle Felix
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.Galatians 1: 6 – 9
Our loyalty should be to the content of the gospel, and not unto man. Some have sold their right to inherit the benefits of the gospel to a plate of morsel. The compromise in delivering the gospel in its purity is due to the fear to lose some momentary benefits, such as preaching engagements, connections and money. Esau sold his birthright for a plate of food. He wanted to satisfy his hunger on the expense of compromising the gospel. He was rejected by God because was a corrupt man, who would not hesitate to compromise the revelation of Christ.
16 Be careful that no one among you lives in immorality, becoming careless about God’s blessings, like Esau who traded away his rights as the firstborn for a simple meal.
Hebrews 12: 16
Esau was considered as an immoral person for despising his birthright. The rejection of the birthright was the rejection of the gospel of Christ. Esau removed himself from the lineage of Christ by his decision to despise his birthright. Many like Esau in the church today.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Galatians 3: 8
This gospel was preached to Abraham way before Christ was born. The gospel was about salvation by grace through faith. Abraham was declared righteous by grace through faith. He was declared righteous by faith, not by his works. He did not deserve the grace of God but yet he received grace. So what could be the content of the gospel?
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
Ephesians 1: 13
The content of the gospel is Jesus. It is about the Person. According to Paul in Ephesians 1: 13, the hearing the gospel should make one to believe and trust in Jesus for the salvation of our lives. The content should then be about the person we want to believe in. The content of the message should not be taken lightly or compromised on like Esau. We have to stay with the Person of the message in order to preach the message of the gospel with accuracy. The problem is the desire to deviate to other contents that have nothing to do with the message of Christ. You cannot come and preach a message whose content has got to do with discerning the marine spirits. Is that the message of Christ or the message of devils?
2 I, Paul, tell you: If you think there is benefit in circumcision and Jewish regulations, then you’re acting as though Jesus the Anointed One is not enough.
Galatians 5: 2
Jesus is the content of the gospel, and any addition to the gospel of Christ is acting as though Jesus is not enough. The syllabus of the church Jesus from start to end. He is the description of good news. We truly need to understand the content so that we do not settle just for anything. It is time for the church to be particular with the content of the gospel and have the ability to discern.
