Stand In His Might Power
By Apostle Felix
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians 6: 13 – 17
Standing strong in the Lord and in the power of His might is the key to experiencing the possibility power of God. The standing strong in the Lord is the fortification of our minds with the word of God. The word of God is our fortress and stronghold. The above quoted scripture is in most cases used when believers are supposedly entering a moment of spiritual warfare in prayer. Where believers are encouraged to put on the armour of God at that particular moment in order to fight the devils more effectively. It is portrayed as though the armour of God is something one can put on before the fight and then put it off after flocking the devil. Of course, apostle Paul used the word, ‘wrestling’ to emphasize the nature of life we are engaged, which is a battle. But the question, what is the nature of the battle?
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 19: 3 – 5
The nature of the battle, we believers are involved in has got to do with words. It is a battle of words. Words are thoughts which have been expressed, and thoughts are words yet to be expressed. The life of possibility is attained on this premise, the word of God. Every battle of the spirit is waged and won mainly in the realm of words. Jesus did not go into a physical hand to hand combat with the devil when He was tempted. The temptation had to do with words. The devil was speaking to Christ the words we read about in Luke chapter four, through the mind of Christ. How did Jesus overcome? He answered the devil with the word of God. So, the wrestling had to do with the word exchange. Jesus was not screaming, He spoke the word of God to counter satan’s suggestions. Satan’s initial aim is to plant unbelief and doubt in a believer’s heart. He will begin with questioning the integrity of God’s word, so that a believer can begin to doubt what God has said. The moment satan has achieved that then a believer will have a challenge to believe God for the impossibility. The real spiritual warfare is not climbing mountains to go and engage the devil in a warfare, but it is the taking of thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to God’s word captive. The ability to cast down satan’s suggestions down is the real battle. Satan has been defeated perfectly by Christ Jesus through His death, burial and resurrection. You and I are not called to defeat satan but to resist him.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4: 7
Submission to God is the prerequisite for resisting the devil. You cannot resist the devil without first submitting to God. How can one submit to God? You can submit to God by believing in His word. Jesus constantly spoke to the people to believe in Him. You cannot see the possibility of God without believing in Him.
