The Spirit of Wisdom

23  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 

1 Corinthians 1: 23

King Solomon talked about wisdom been the principal thing. He then encouraged the people to get wisdom. Solomon was regarded to be the wisest person that ever lived. However, Jesus was greater than Solomon.

42  Even the Queen of Sheba will rise up on the day of judgment to accuse and condemn this generation for its unbelief! She journeyed from a far and distant land just to hear the wisdom of King Solomon. Yet now there is one greater than Solomon speaking to you, and you still refuse to listen.” 

Matthew 12: 42

Jesus made a comparison between the desire of queen of Sheba had for wisdom to the desire of the people of His generation had. Queen Sheba traveled a long distance, just to come and hear Solomon. And Solomon was not the wisdom, but he talked about the wisdom personified yet to be born. Jesus is the wisdom of God. He does not have wisdom, but He is wisdom. Wisdom cannot be separated from Christ. Christ and wisdom are one.

24  But for those who have been chosen to follow him, both Jews and Greeks, he is God’s mighty power, God’s true wisdom, and our Messiah. 

1 Corinthians 1: 24

The Greek word for wisdom is sophia. Wisdom in first Corinthians chapter one verse twenty three is referenced to God. There is God’s wisdom, human wisdom and diabolical wisdom. However, the wisdom of God surpasses all kinds of wisdom that can be. There is no wisdom that can compete with the wisdom of God.

20  Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21  For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 

1 Corinthians 1: 20, 21

The Spirit of wisdom demonstrates the character and the power of God in and through you. It is the wisdom of God that is able to transform a life, from being a fisherman to a fisher of men. It is the wisdom of God that calls the outcasts and turns them into agents of change. The wisdom of God does not make sense to the wise by earthly standards. The world only accepts the already made and qualified, but wisdom receives whosoever and changes them into Christlike beings who are able to confound the wisdom of this world.

Act 4:13  The council members were astonished as they witnessed the bold courage of Peter and John, especially when they discovered that they were just ordinary men who had never had religious training. Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him.

In most cases, wisdom is not something that is taught, it is caught by observation. Wisdom comes by interacting with the wise. Your interaction with the Lord will certainly impart wisdom. When you walk with fools, you get affected by their foolishness. Foolishness is caught too.

20  If you want to grow in wisdom, spend time with the wise. Walk with the wicked and you’ll eventually become just like them. 

Proverbs 13: 20

You cannot be with Christ and be a fool. Christ is the wisdom of God, therefore the wisdom of God is in you. It is then vital to feed the Christ in you with His word. Feed on the word. Study the word. Read the word. By so doing, you are interacting with the Christ.
