But the truth is, Christ is risen from the dead, as the first fruit of a great resurrection harvest of those who have died.
1 Corinthians 15: 20
Jesus Christ is our first born. He is the first fruit. Let us examine the revelation of the first in the light of Christ. I believe, we have heard it said before that firstborns have a bizarre and misfortune circumstances surrounding their lives. Oftentimes, it is believed that every first born need to be redeemed in order to avoid such circumstances. Such a belief is normally supported with scriptures. However, the belief has misled many to believe that the position of a first born goes with a demonic entity. This belief is called the redemption of the firstborn.
Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine. Exodus 13: 2
I just hope the message is received well, especially the firstborns. Your position of birth in your family has nothing to do with the circumstances surrounding your life. Probably, you have sought spiritual help from spiritual leaders, and you were told that you needed to be redeemed. You even got redeemed when you gave a sacrifice in form of money. Honestly, such practices are far from the truth. You do not need to be redeemed by giving any sacrificial offering. Such practices are not supported by scripture in the New Testament.
Christ came into this world as the Lamb of God to be sacrificed for our sins. God, in His infinite wisdom, concealed Christ in types and shadows in the Old Testament. David said in Psalm 91: 1, ‘that he who dwells in the secret place, abides in the shadow of the Almighty.’ The Old Testament saints abode in the shadows, not in the substance. Christ was hidden in religious activities of that time. Christ was so concealed that even Satan could not decode the hidden message in the types and shadows. If Satan could decode, he was not going to participate in the death of Christ. He was going to avoid any participation. Therefore, to understand the mystery behind the redemption of the first, one should use the lens of Christ.
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Colossians 2: 17
Israel’s redemption from Egypt is very significant in understanding the plan of God of redemption for mankind. God called a single man, Abraham, to whom He gave the privilege of fathering a nation. And God called this nation His first born.
And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
Exodus 4: 22
Israel was God’s firstborn in the shadows. But the reality was Christ. Israel was handpicked by God to be the firstborn. It was a prophetic nation, whose mission was to carry the message of the Christ in types and shadows. All Israel experienced were all pointing to the coming of Christ.
