Sons of God

Sons of God

By Apostle Felix

14  The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.

15  And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”

16  For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”

Romans 8: 14 – 16

Child of God, you are a son of the Living God. This may sound like one of those fancy statements we make in our every day life. But this is a reality of every person born of God and is led by the Spirit of God. This reality of being a son of God comes along with authority to reign in this life. Remember, when Jesus was announced as the Son by the Father at the Jordan river, His ministry began thereafter. The introduction as the Son, came with responsibility and power for ministry.

22  And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Luke 3: 22

1  And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Luke 3: 1

Jesus was led by the Spirit not into the palace, but into the wilderness. The wilderness was not a pleasant place, but a place of affliction and want. The children of Israel were tested in the wilderness and they failed terribly. They succumbed to circumstances and that resulted in them prolonging their journey from eleven days to forty years. It is a place that demands maturity in decision making regarding the matters of life.

7  You called out to me in your time of trouble and I rescued you. I came down from the realm of the secret place of thunder, where mysteries hide. I came down to save you. I tested your hearts at the place where there was no water to drink, the place of your bitter argument with me.”

Psalm 81: 7

The wilderness is a place of testing. It needs mental fortification with the word of God in order to come out strong. The children of Israel, though they were delivered from the Egyptian bondage, were void of God’s word. They were immature in matters of the kingdom of God. Though they were physically free from slavery, they were mentally enslaved. These were freed slaves who were still reasoning and thinking like slaves. Mental slavery is more stronger than physical slavery. The twelve men who had gone to spy the promised land, only two, Joshua and Caleb came back with a good report. The rest came back with a report informed by the state of their minds. and the report they came with, delayed their rest in the promised land.  A slave mentality cannot be permitted to enter the promised land. This is because, the promised land is reserved for sons, not for slaves or servants.

3  And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

4  And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

Genesis 15: 3, 4

Abraham suggested a servant to inherit the blessing that was upon him, but GOD rejected the idea and suggested a son. The blessing of God is for sons. You are a son, by reason of being born again in Christ Jesus. And the blessing of the Lord is upon you, but yet it will take maturity in the matters of the family of God to see the effect of the blessing. Maturity is simply good followership of the Spirit of God. Maturity is also manifesting responsibility regarding spiritual matters. Sons are mature and responsible. Sons are committed to the Father’s business.

49  And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Luke 2: 49

Sons, love what the Father loves. The Father loves His church, and so the sons will love the church. The Father loves people, so the sons will love people. The Father loves His word, so the sons will love the word of God too. Sons go about spreading the good news of the the Father to others. They are fully involved in the Father;s business. Non involvement in the Father’s business is due to identity crisis.
