Seek His Kingdom

Seek His Kingdom

By Apostle Felix

33  “So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.

Matthew 6: 33

Seeking in the above scripture is not in the order of importance. Seeking God is not just among other important things to seek. It is not to seek God first and then seek other things secondly. Jesus did not mean it in that way. I remember, when God asked me who was first in my life. Of course, my answer was obvious, God. And then God asked me who was second. I was single then, and I really struggled to find who was second in my life. But the Lord helped by telling me who was second, Himself. He went on to third, until hundred and then He said to me, ‘He is first in my life, meaning He is the only one to be sought.’ He has to be hundred percent in our lives, not ten percent. For anyone to be arguing about a tithe, which is ten percent is senseless. God wants hundred percent from us. If we can only realize that, then we will not struggle with giving anymore. That’s why the early church did not emphasis ten percent, but they emphasized generosity, which is giving more than the ten percent. The believers in the  early church sold their houses, lands and properties and gave all to the church. That was hundred percent giving – hilarious giving. Their minds were centred on the kingdom of God.

34  Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35  And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Acts 4: 34, 35

Many claim to be kingdom seekers, when they are thing seekers. We have so many believers that are thing addicts instead of being God addicts. The reasons for serving God for some is for things, and the reason why many in church are gullible and susceptible to deception.

Jesus never told us to seek things, but rather His kingdom. The kingdom sought has enough power to produce things, the less important things. We cannot be in a church whose emphasis are things and expect to subdue the elements of the earth. Focus on the kingdom of God that created the things. Jesus multiplied bread and fish for the people to eat. About five thousands men, besides women and children ate of the meal Jesus multiplied. However, Jesus rebuked the same people when He saw them following Him. He did not want the masses to be following Him for things.

26  Jesus replied, “Let me make this very clear, you came looking for me because I fed you by a miracle, not because you believe in me.
27  Why would you strive for food that is perishable and not be passionate to seek the food of eternal life, which never spoils? I, the Son of Man, am ready to give you what matters most, for God the Father has destined me for this purpose.”

John 6: 26, 27

Jesus was not impressed with their insatiable appetite for perishable things. This same attitude is evident in our generation – serving God for things. Such an attitude displeases the Lord because sons of God do not live for things, but for the Lord. It is the unbelievers that live for things. They kill, steal and cheat just to acquire things. Sons of God seek God’s kingdom and all these things unbelievers kill, steal and cheat for, are added to the righteous lives. Begin to seek His kingdom today and you will lack no good thing in your life.
