Revelation of Faith Part 1

By Apostle Felix

So until the revelation of faith for salvation was released, the law was a jailer, holding us as prisoners under lock and key until the “faith,” which was destined to be revealed, would set us free. Galatians 3: 23

Faith is not a monopoly of Christianity. Faith is common to man. Man is essentially a spirit and lives by faith whether consciously or unconsciously. The people are called nonbelievers because they have rejected Christ, as Lord and Saviour. It does not necessarily mean that they are void of faith. They may not have faith in Christ and His finished work, but may have faith in other things. There are people who have faith in themselves and their abilities. Most of the motivational speaking is based on faith in oneself. That is faith but not the faith of God.

The faith of God is limited to Christ and His finished work. It is the faith that is solely based on the knowledge of Christ. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8: 32

Christianity is a faith that is distinguished from all other faiths. All religions are called faiths. The reason is, because they have faith in what they have believed in. The expression of behavior and character is largely influenced by the belief system of that faith. Therefore, it is very necessary to investigate and examine how the Christianity faith should look like. The background of Christianity is Judaism, a religion practiced by Jewish people. It is based on the Mosaic law, and the observance of the Mosaic covenant.

And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) Luke 2: 22, 23

Jesus was born and lived under the Mosaic dispensation, which is of the law. His parents had to fulfill the demands of the law when Jesus was born. Jesus attended the synagogue as a boy and as a young man. He lived in a society that had faith in the law of Moses. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to live by the law. This was because the Law of Moses cannot give the faith of God. The faith of God informs us that man has been justified by grace through faith. The law of Moses informs us that man can only be justified by works. So, the faith of the Old Testament people under the law was in what they could do to please God. But the faith of the New Testament people under grace is in what Christ has done for us.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Galatians 3: 11, 12
