Resurrection in the Shadows

My dear fellow believers, you need to understand that all of our Jewish ancestors who walked through a wilderness long ago were under the glory cloud and passed through the waters of the sea on both sides. They were all baptized into the cloud of glory, into the fellowship of Moses, and into the sea.

1 Corinthians 10: 1, 2

The idea of being baptized into the fellowship of Moses is symbolic of the baptism in the New Testament. The significance of water baptism is the symbolism it carries of dying with Christ and rising together with Him in resurrection. The children of Israel were set free from Pharaoh, but their ultimate freedom came when they crossed the Red sea to the other side.

The crossing of the Red sea represents deliverance from Pharaoh and his army. For the Egyptians, they perished and lost their lives in the Red sea, while the Children of Israel crossed over to freedom. The Israelites died to Egypt and crossed over into the newness of life. This was a typology of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The crossing of the Red sea was a resurrection in the shadows.

But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. Exodus 14: 29, 30

The resurrection of Christ is the ultimate victory over the devil and all the powers of darkness. There is no demon that survived the resurrection of Christ. They were all declared defeated foes, never to rise again. The Egyptian army perished in the Red sea and were buried into the abyss of the sea. They were forgotten and gone forever. Jesus’ death looked like defeat but it nailed satan’s defeat forever when He rose from the dead.

When Israel crossed over to the other side, the Egyptians never crossed with Israel. When you are in Christ, you cross over from death into life and no way the devil can cross over to torment you. The Egyptians kept Israel in bondage, enslaved and tortured them. The enemies in the promised land did not keep Israel in bondage but instead were scared of them. It was Israel that made the enemy to appear strong and powerful in their slavery induced mindsets. They saw themselves like grasshoppers in the sight of  the people in the promised land.

And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. Numbers 13: 33

Child of God, you are of God through the resurrection of Christ. There is no power ever that can keep you in bondage. The resurrection power is at work in you. There is no demon spirit that can take a child of God hostage. You do not need deliverance, you have been delivered already. What you need is the renewal of your mind by the word of God.
