Partners With Christ

Partners With Christ

By Apostle Felix

3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 1: 3, 4

As a believer in Christ, you are a partner in the divine nature of God. You are a partaker of the divine nature of the Living God. The word partaker is from a Greek word, ‘Koinonos,’ which means ‘associate, fellowship, partner, partaker, companion.’ Koinonia is a word known for fellowship of believers together. A fellowship of people of like-minded, born of the same spirit and all believe in the same thing. Koinonia is not just a gathering of people in one room, but it is something that is bigger than that. Like-mindedness has a major role in bringing people together in koinonia. Two cannot walk together unless they agree. That’s koinonia.

3  Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Amos 3: 3

Koinonia, which is fellowship or partnership has a way of conforming us into the likeness of our association. You cannot fellowship with gossipers and escape the corruption of gossiping. The corruption will definitely rub on you and turn you into a gossiper. You cannot be in fellowship with blasphemers and escape their corruption. Show me your friends and I will know who you are. It is that simple. The fellowship we settle for plays a big role in shaping our nature. Thank God for the fellowship we have in Jesus Christ.

6  That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
Ephesians 3: 6

We are in fellowship with the rest of the body in Christ by the gospel. What unites us is the gospel of Christ, not mere reading from the Bible or singing about God. This understanding is very essential to understanding fellowship. What constitutes christian fellowship is the message of Christ, which is the knowledge of Christ. Apostle Peter alluded to that in his second letter of Peter, that everything you and I could ever need for life and  for complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by His divine power. The deposit has been made possible through the knowledge of Christ. The apostle Paul labored in his life time to unveil the knowledge of Christ to the body of Christ. It would be possible to be in fellowship with Christ, whom we do not know.

21  You can’t drink from the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t feast at the table of the Lord and feast at the table of demons.

1 Corinthians 10: 21

It is possible to sit at the table of devils where Christ is not made known. Idolatry is not only bowing before a statue like a buddhist, but can be also participating in the practice of using the so called spiritual elements. That is idolatry. Why should a believer who is full of the Holy Spirit continue using oil. That is idolatry. God allowed the usage of oil under the old covenant because man was not regenerated fit for God’s abode. But now that we are born of God, by His incorruptible word, we do not need the corruptible natural oil to replace the incorruptible Holy Spirit. Let us escape such corruptions. The Holy Spirit is enough.
