Jesus Is Enough
By Apostle Felix
1 Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past.
2 I, Paul, tell you: If you think there is benefit in circumcision and Jewish regulations, then you’re acting as though Jesus the Anointed One is not enough.Galatians 5: 1, 2
The question every believer need an answer for is if Jesus is enough or not. If this question is not answered adequately, one may end up been tossed to and fro by every wind doctrine and religious practices. In order to arrive at a more concise conclusion, one should know the truth, who is Christ. It is not possible to arrive at the conclusion that Jesus is enough without the knowledge of Christ. His knowledge frees us from all religious practices and use of emulets. The church has become an epicentre for protecting emulets been given to members. This practice is due to considering those emulets as items assisting Jesus in effecting the healing or a breakthrough.
The early church had a challenge of others reintroducing the Jewish practices in the church as a means to authenticate salvation. Salvation is totally dependent on Jesus alone. However, the Jewish community in the church wanted to Jewish practices to be reintroduced in the church and have the gentiles circumcised for them to be truly saved. But apostle Paul began to counter such false teachings and practices. He even rebuked Peter over his hypocrisy of pretending as one who is living by the Mosaic’s law standards.
13 And so because of Peter’s hypocrisy, many other Jewish believers followed suit, refusing to eat with non-Jewish believers. Even Barnabas was led astray by their poor example and condoned this legalistic, hypocritical behavior!
14 So when I realized they were acting inconsistently with the revelation of grace, I confronted Peter in front of everyone: “You were born a Jew and yet you’ve chosen to disregard Jewish regulations and live like a gentile. Why then do you force those who are not Jews to conform to the regulations of Judaism?Galatians 2: 13, 14
Today, we hear people standing against one who is pointing out erroneous practices in the church in the name of ‘do not judge.’ I think that is the dumbest approach one can ever adopt in the world we are living in. Do not judge approach is not of God. God raised prophets in the Old Testament to warn Israel of its wrong doings. John, the baptist lambasted the religious people for their hypocrisy. Jesus, Himself spoke very harshly against the religious people. An then apostle Paul, who even stood against apostle Peter, his senior in ministry. We have unbiblical practices in the church today because the church is quiet about the unbiblical doctrines that have given birth to unbiblical practices. One of the reasons why the church is quiet is because it does not know how to go about defending the faith. And some of the practices practiced by known false pastors, are actually practices by true pastors. And this has brought such a confusion in the church. One does not know where the line can be drawn. Brothers and sisters. Jesus is that line. There is a difference between mentioning Jesus in our sermons about other subjects and mentioning other subjects in our sermons about Jesus. When Jesus becomes central, all these other subjects will lose relevance. Jesus’ name has become like a wand stick used to attain the desired thing. And His name is also used in sermons only to make it appear as a christian message. But the content is not. It is an Oprah message, that has been injected with Jesus’ name.
42 And nothing stopped them! They kept preaching every day in the temple courts and went from house to house, preaching the gospel of Jesus, God’s Anointed One!
Acts 5: 42
5 We don’t preach ourselves, but rather the lordship of Jesus Christ, for we are your servants for Jesus’ sake.
2 Corinthians 4: 5
Jesus is enough. Why is it so important to preach Jesus and Him alone? The reason is, so that He can increase, and we decrease. The Lord glorifies His Son in the earth. What the world needs is Jesus, the Saviour. It does not need me or you. Therefore, the message that can change lives is the message of Christ. One may ask, do I have to preach Christ only? Oh yes, preach Him alone and mention other subjects. Do not make other subjects the main thing. My point is, Jesus should not be used as a book cover for the purpose of selling a different message in the book. Let Christ be the main subject of message in the book.
