DISCERNING TRUTH IN THE DISPENSATION OF CHRIST

Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another. But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through him God created the panorama of all things and all time. Hebrews 1: 1, 2

In these last days, God has spoken by His Son, Jesus Christ, and not by the prophets. The last days is the dispensation of the sons of God, who have been born of the seed of God. The previous dispensation, which was of the law and prophets was a dispensation of servants. The dispensation of the law and the prophets is the Old Testament, while the dispensation of sons is the New Testament. The above scripture from Hebrews 1: 1, 2 is describing two dispensations of God’s workings or administrations.

The Old Testament is a mystery of Christ dispensation, while the New Testament is Christ revealed dispensation. A mystery is something that may be hard to understand due to insufficiency of information. The Old Testament is a mystery, and it can only be understood in the light of the New Testament. The Old Testament’s message of Christ is enshrined in types and shadows that can only be explained by the manifested Son of God, Jesus Christ. Any attempt to try to interpret the Old Testament without the aid of the New Testament may lead to massive misinterpretation. Jesus Christ is the mystery of the Old Testament that has been revealed in the New Testament.

For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. Hebrews 10: 1

The strength of deception is dissemination of a message that is void of Christ revelation. It emphasizes the acts of the Old Testament, without demystifying the mystery of Christ. The falsehood we are witnessing today did not come without a cause. It found it’s way into the church because the message that has been preached and taught was a message of the dispensation of servants. Christ came to give us the message of the Son of God, which was Himself. He was misunderstood because of the message He preached. He was opposed because He said that He was the Son of God. The message of the ‘sons of God’ is the message that liberates and protects us from deception.
