He is Risen
By Apostle Felix
Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 1 Corinthians 15: 12 – 15
The death, burial and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is the core of our faith. The significance of His resurrection is so powerful and profound for the salvation of man that the enemy by all means tries to undermine it and convince the masses that it is nothing. His resurrection is a terror to the satan’s agenda because it was a seal of victory over satan and his cohorts. Why is Christ’s resurrection significant?
The Significance of Resurrection
Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. Exodus 15: 1
Jesus died our death, buried and resurrected for our sake. He did it all for us. He did not die and resurrect for Himself. It was you and me that needed a resurrection from death – a separation from the Father. A classic typology of death and resurrection is the exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt into the promised land. I will only cite one incidence when Israel crossed the Red sea on dry ground. After leaving Egypt, Israel encountered an obstacle or an insurmountable challenge of crossing the Red sea. The situation looked hopeless and impossible to overcome. We are talking about a nation of three million men, besides women and children facing the Red sea and behind them was an Egyptian army. They were sandwiched between two impossible challenges that they could not overcome. The only situation to escape the wrath of Pharaoh and the Egyptians was to cross the Red sea, but how?
Of course, the miracle working power of God parted the Red sea and Israel was able to cross. Israel did not understand the revelation behind their crossing the Red sea, but it was actually symbolizing death and resurrection. For Israel to escape Pharaoh’s oppression, they had to experience death, burial and resurrection figuratively. Israel died, buried and resurrected. When they got to the other side of the Red sea, Israel had total freedom from Pharaoh’s oppression.
Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were His! Colossians 2: 15
Israel’s experience was a typology of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The enemy, the devil and his kingdom were defeated forever through His resurrection. And He did that for me and you. You are totally free from satan’s oppression. AMEN!!
