Free To Choose Your Own Master

Free To Choose Your Own Master

By Apostle Felix

16  Don’t you realize that grace frees you to choose your own master? But choose carefully, for you surrender yourself to become a servant—bound to the one you choose to obey. If you choose to love sin, it will become your master, and it will own you and reward you with death. But if you choose to love and obey God, he will lead you into perfect righteousness.

Romans 6: 16

In the Old Testament, Moses presented life and death, and blessing and curses  before the children of Israel. The onus to choose what they wanted was on Israel, not God or Moses. The ability to choose is a gift God has given to every man. Our choices play a major role in determining our destinies, even eternal destine. No one can claim to have been forced into the kingdom of God. We choose to follow God. It is a choice everyone has to make at one point. This is the reason why, salvation is not a family inheritance. You are not automatically saved or born again just because your parents are born again. You have to make a personal decision to be born again.

14  But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.
15  “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil.
16  If you obey the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you today, by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

Deuteronomy 30: 14 – 16

God gave His Son, Jesus Christ as our substitution. He took our place of condemnation and death, and was condemned and died on our behalf. Man, in Adam had chosen death but God in His mercy provided an alternative, which is life in Christ. Jesus, Himself said that whosoever shall believe in Him shall be saved. That is the matter of choice. Unfortunately, many around us in our workplaces, schools, neighborhoods and our own family members have chosen to remain in death. It is our responsibility, therefore, to continue preaching the gospel to the people around us. It is our preaching of the gospel consistently, that presents life before the people.

14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Romans 10: 14

Preaching releases the grace of God, giving them opportunity to choose life. It is the preaching of the gospel that imparts grace and faith upon the hearers. Paul said, let your communication impart grace upon the hearers.

29  Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Ephesians 4: 29

17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10: 17

The word of God, the revelation of Christ preached brings along with it grace and faith upon the hearer. Let us preach the gospel in and out of season.

The word of faith, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ imparts grace upon believers. It is that grace that helps us to choose to follow Christ each single day. Apostle Paul put it in this way:

10  But God’s amazing grace has made me who I am! And his grace to me was not fruitless. In fact, I worked harder than all the rest, yet not in my own strength but God’s, for his empowering grace is poured out upon me.

1 Corinthians 15: 10

Grace made Paul and grace continued to sustain Him. Paul said that he died daily for the sake of Christ, meaning that he daily chose to make Christ his master. Christianity is a life of daily making decisions to follow Christ. The grace of God gave him the freedom to choose Christ as his master. The same grace that was upon apostle Paul is upon our lives today. Allow the grace of God to work on your behalf daily. As you do so, you will make decisions to follow Him even in the most difficult circumstances.
