That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. Philippians 3:10
By Apostle Felix
Jesus asked His disciples a very puzzling question in Matthew 16: 15, ‘He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? ‘ Of course, the disciples’ response was a product of their ignorance of who Christ was. They were with Christ, but yet did not know Him. The disciples too, did not know who Christ was. They too thought Christ was one of the prophets, such as Elijah or Jeremiah.
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 16: 16, 17
Peter, who was Simon, received a revelation from God regarding the Christ. He was inspired by God to say, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.’ And that revelation Peter received is the foundation on which the church has been built. The knowledge of Christ is the foundation on which we build our lives on. Any attempt to build our lives on any other foundation may lead to destruction. Unfortunately, so many innocent people are building the lives on sand, not the Rock.
And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: Matthew 7: 26
Foolishness is equated to lack of knowledge of Christ. David put it in this way in Psalm 14: 1, The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. Foolishness is described as a person void of the knowledge of Christ. It is the rejection of the revelation of Christ. It is sad to say that we have many of such likes in the church. One may not outrightly reject Christ, but it shows in one’s beliefs and practices. The church is obsessed with extra-biblical practices, that are not in alignment with the doctrine of Christ.
The seriousness of this matter is not yet realized in the church. This is so serious that the devil, himself is pushing it aggressively. He has convinced the church that there are unfinished businesses beside what Jesus Christ did. The motivation for extra-biblical practices is that there is an unfinished business.
For-example, one may be convinced that giving breaks the curse. Giving does not break any curse. Jesus was the One who set us free from the curse. He became a curse so that we can be blessed. We give because we are the blessed in Christ. The blessed give. The righteous live righteous and not vice versa.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3: 13, 14
