Dead To Sin

Dead To Sin

By Apostle Felix

14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6: 14

Death is a separation. A spirit man separated from the body is called death. It is a severance. The Bible is a book of death and birth. The first man, Adam died spiritually due to the presence of sin in his life. He was separated from God, therefore he died. Since the fall of Adam, man had been separated from God. The separation of man from God has caused so much havoc in humanity. We hear of wars and all the evil vices around us due to the absence of God in humanity. Man had tried to establish institutions to reinforce peace in the world, but all to no avail. Man is trying to institute peace without God. That’s impossible.

1  My dear fellow believers, you need to understand that all of our Jewish ancestors who walked through a wilderness long ago were under the glory cloud and passed through the waters of the sea on both sides.
2  They were all baptized into the cloud of glory, into the fellowship of Moses, and into the sea.

1 Corinthians 10: 1, 2

After been delivered from Egypt, Israel faced a Red sea and it became an obstacle to them. Moses was a man raised by God to deliver Israel from the Egyptian bondage. He had a rod which God had miraculously endued as a means to demonstrate the power of God. The rod was symbolic of the cross. As Moses was given the rod to demonstrate the power of God for Israel’s freedom, the church has been given the message of the cross to free mankind from satan’s bondage.

18  To preach the message of the cross seems like sheer nonsense to those who are on their way to destruction, but to us who are on our way to salvation, it is the mighty power of God released within us.

1 Corinthians 1: 18

16  But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

Exodus 14: 16

While Moses and the children of Israel stood by the Red sea, God commanded Moses to raise his rod over the sea. That he did and the sea parted. Israel crossed the Red sea to the other side. That was symbolic of death. They were symbolically buried in death and raised from the dead when they got to the other side of the sea. Israel died to Egypt and were alive for God. Egypt was forever behind them, never to cross again. The Red sea was only parted once and closed forever. They crossed into newness of life in God.

3  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Romans 6: 3 – 7

We were baptized into Christ, and His death. Since we were buried together with Christ, then we were raised from the dead with Him. Jesus became sin and took all our sins and curses in His body, but at resurrection, He defeated sin and death in His body. Since Christ died our death, then He resurrected for us so that we may have victory over sin. We have died to sin in Christ and we now live for Christ.
