Christ’s Birth
By Apostle Felix
8 But the one who indulges in a sinful life is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was revealed was to undo and destroy the works of the devil.1 John 3: 8
It is that time of the year when everyone is looking forward to celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ’s birth is world’s phenomenal in the sense that His birth is celebrated even by people that do not recognize His Lordship. Streets and shopping malls are heavily decorated with christmas decorations. Atheists and people from different religions do participate in the celebration of His birth. Christ’s birth has been reduced to christmas trees and wild parties. It is unfortunate that such an important event in the history of mankind can be reduced to mere eating and drinking.
Christ’s birth is actually a manifestation of God clothed in human body. The birth of Christ should be held in the highest regard because God lowered Himself to become man and stripped Himself of His Godhead privileges.
5 And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.
6 He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize.
7 Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human!
8 He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion!Philippians 2: 5 – 8
God humbled Himself to become man. His birth is very strategic for the salvation of mankind. God needed a body in order to identify with man. Salvation was not going to be possible without a body been provided. This is one of the greatest miracle that God could come and dwell with man in a human body. Jesus was called Immanuel, which means God has become one of us.
23 Listen! A virgin will be pregnant, she will give birth to a Son, and he will be known as “Emmanuel,” which means in Hebrew, “God became one of us.”
Matthew 1: 23
How did God become one of us? He became one of us by occupying a body which was prepared for Him.
5 So when Jesus the Messiah came into the world he said, “Since your ultimate desire was not another animal sacrifice, you have clothed me with a body that I might offer myself instead!
Hebrew 10: 5
He was clothed with a body when the Seed, which is the Word entered Mary’s womb. God, actually incarnated. Incarnation literally means embodied in flesh or taking on flesh. It is the conception and the embodiment of a deity or spirit in some earthly form. So, Jesus incarnated for the purpose of destroying the power of the devil through His death.
14 And so the Living Expression became a man and lived among us! And we gazed upon the splendor of his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father overflowing with tender mercy and truth!
John 1: 14
Jesus was born as the One and only Son of God. He was the only one of the kind while He was on earth before His death. The devils were terrified to see the culmination of deity and humanity on earth. They recognized Him as the Son of God, as God in a human body. After His resurrection, Jesus became the first born of many sons of God. He was the prototype of how sons of God should look like.
15 He is the divine portrait, the true likeness of the invisible God, and the first-born heir of all creation.
16 For through the Son everything was created, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen. Every seat of power, realm of government, principality, and authority—it was all created through him and for his purpose!
17 He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in him.
18 He is the Head of his body, which is the church. And since he is the beginning and the firstborn heir in resurrection, he is the most exalted One, holding first place in everything.
