Christ: The Revelation of God

Christ: The Revelation of God

By Apostle Felix

2  God conceals the revelation of his word in the hiding place of his glory. But the honor of kings is revealed by how they thoroughly search out the deeper meaning of all that God says.
Proverbs 25: 2

3  The Son is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendor, the exact expression of God’s true nature—his mirror image! He holds the universe together and expands it by the mighty power of his spoken word. He accomplished for us the complete cleansing of sins, and then took his seat on the highest throne at the right hand of the majestic One.

Hebrews 1: 3

Christ is the revelation of God. He is the express image of God. The express image means that Christ is the exact copy or representation of God. The incarnation of Christ is one of the greatest demonstration of God’s love towards man. God decided to become man so that He could make Himself known to man. The divine God clothed Himself with humanity in order to identify Himself with man. He had to identify with us, so that we can identify ourselves with Christ.

6  He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize.
7  Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human!
8  He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion!

Philippians 2: 6 – 8

Christ revealed Himself as man, so we, can be revealed as sons of the Living God.

Before Christ was incarnated as man, He was the revelation of God’s Word concealed in God. In the Old Testament, Christ was concealed and so was God. God could not be known without the revelation of the Word. In the Old Testament, God spoke to man through typologies and shadows. But under the new covenant, God has spoken by His Son.

Heb 1:1  Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another.
Heb 1:2  But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through him God created the panorama of all things and all time.

Hebrews 1: 1, 2

In this last days, God has spoken to us in the language of His Son. The failure to understand the language of the Son may lead to misunderstanding God. If one wants to know God should desire to know Christ. Jesus made a bold claim that Him and the Father are one. And if you have seen Him, then you have seen the Father.

30  The Father and I are one.”
John 10: 30

7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
John 14: 7

9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
John 14: 9

The disciples were asking Jesus to show them the Father. They asked because they lacked the knowledge of Christ. Though they had known Jesus in the natural, they did not know Him by the Spirit. They related with him as a son of Joseph and Mary, not as the Son of God. If they had known that He was the Son of God, they would not have asked ask Him to show them the Father.

16  So then, from now on, we have a new perspective that refuses to evaluate people merely by their outward appearances. For that’s how we once viewed the Anointed One, but no longer do we see him with limited human insight.
2 Corinthians 5: 16

The glory of a believer is in locating what the Father has spoken to us by His Son. The revelation of God can only be known through Christ. The saints of old so desperately wanted to have a glimpse into the revelation of Christ, but could not. All they had were types and shadows. But you and me have known God through the revelation of the Son. God has been made known through Him. You know God as your FATHER, One who loves you through Christ, the Son.
