Christ in the Shadows

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3: 15

The fall of man concealed Christ in the shadows. He became obscure. Genesis chapters one and two give an account of God’s intended plan for mankind. And it also gives an account of Christ revealed in the earth.

For it is written: The first man, Adam, became a living soul. The last Adam became the life-giving Spirit. 1 Corinthians 15: 45

Man was created in the image of God as a God representative in the earth. Man, being the first Adam was endued the God nature and heavenly resources for him to reign supreme in the earth. He was anointed of God for the purpose of carrying out the task which God had assigned him to do. He needed the anointing to function as God intended. God intended Adam to have dominion over all creation. The fall of Adam made the anointing to leave his life and had been living in the era of Ichabod since. The glory departed from man. The Christ could no longer manifest in the earth. The earth became a Christless realm. The Christless realm is susceptible to satan’s dominion. For this reason, the earth is groaning for the manifestation of the sons of God in the earth.

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Romans 8: 20, 21

The worst catastrophy in the history of man is when man sinned against God, and as a result Christ was concealed. God could no longer communicate with man directly but found a mode of communication through types and shadows.

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Colossians 2: 16, 17

Since the fall, God could only communicate to man through types and shadows. The types and shadows were symbolizing the death, burial and the resurrection of Christ. The types and shadows were not the perfect will of God for man, but was a means to communicate the redemptive plan of God to man. They were not the end in themselves. They cannot be relied on because they communicated death. They had no power in themselves. Those were shadows and Christ was concealed in the shadows. But now Christ has been revealed in the resurrection. The sin that had concealed the Christ had been defeated when Jesus died, buried and resurrected from the dead. He is now revealed in you and has made you the righteousness of God. Not by works or by the observance of the law but by grace.

Even when we were dead and doomed in our many sins, he united us into the very life of Christ and saved us by his wonderful grace! He raised us up with Christ the exalted One, and we ascended with him into the glorious perfection and authority of the heavenly realm, for we are now co-seated as one with Christ! Throughout the coming ages we will be the visible display of the infinite, limitless riches of his grace and kindness, which was showered upon us in Jesus Christ. For it was only through this wonderful grace that we believed in him. Nothing we did could ever earn this salvation, for it was the gracious gift from God that brought us to Christ! Ephesians 2: 5 – 7
