Born To Conquer Death

Born To Conquer Death

By Apostle Felix

2Ti 1:10  This truth is now being unveiled by the revelation of the anointed Jesus, our life-giver, who has dismantled death, obliterating all its effects on our lives, and has manifested his immortal life in us by the gospel.

2 Timothy 1: 10

Jesus was born with a mission to conquer death on our behalf and give us a crown of life. Every man is born for a specific purpose, but Jesus’ surpasses all. His mission was beyond the grave. A man born with a clear mission statement of dying in place of another man. His mission was also foretold to Mary, the mother.

34  Then Simeon blessed them and told Mary, his mother, “This infant is destined to cause many in Israel to fall and rise. Also, he will be a sign that will be opposed.
35  Indeed, a sword will pierce your own soul, too, so that the inner thoughts of many people might be revealed.”

Luke 2: 34, 35

Death is one of those things that is dreaded in life. Hospitals have been established with one purpose in mind to defeat the cause of death. However, one’s life can be prolonged to some extent but death cannot be defeated by mere medical means. While Jesus was on earth, He raised people from the dead such as Lazarus but yet died at some point in time. All the people Jesus had brought back to life, all died at some point. This tells us that physical death is not the primary reason Jesus was born to conquer. His primary purpose was to conquer the spiritual death, which is caused by man been separated from God. Death is simply a separation. A spirit man separated from the body is called physical death. And a spirit man separated from God is called spiritual death. And it is the spiritual death that has to be dreaded above all else.

18  And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God.

2 Corinthians 5: 18

Jesus was born to die for the reconciliation of man back to God. This mission required the death of one, who had not sinned at all. And Jesus qualified to be the sacrificial Lamb, which took the sins of the world. While His family celebrated His birthday each year, Jesus was more consumed with His mission of dying for mankind. He never talked about His birth as such, but He talked about His death often to His disciples. So much that Peter was infuriated with Jesus’ idea of dying on the cross.

21  From then on Jesus began to clearly reveal to his disciples that he was destined to go to Jerusalem and suffer injustice from the elders, leading priests, and religious scholars. He also explained that he would be killed and three days later be raised to life again.
22  Peter took him aside to correct him privately. He reprimanded Jesus over and over, saying to him, “God forbid, Master! Spare yourself. You must never let this happen to you!”
23  Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get out of my way, you Satan! You are an offense to me, because your thoughts are only filled with man’s viewpoints and not with the ways of God.

Matthew 16: 21 – 23

Jesus’ birth was the means to His death. No one can experience death without be born into this world. The count down starts as soon as one is born. But in Jesus’ case, the count down was towards the final victory over death. He did not die to remain in the tomb forever. On the third day, the Son of God rose from the dead, victoriously. Never to die again. He lives forever, and those that believe in Him have be given life and life more abundantly. The believers in Christ have the life of God because they have been reconciled to God through Christ. The wall of hostility that separated man from God had been destroyed through His death and resurrection. Therefore, Christmas is a time to celebrate the life that we have been given in Christ. We do not go about celebrating any other thing. Celebrate the Christ, the life giver.
