What Man Cannot, God Can

34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 
35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 
36  And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 
37  For with God nothing shall be impossible. 
38  And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Luke 1: 34 – 38

The worst frustration man can ever experience is the fallibility of man’s nature. It is so frustrating for everyone wanting to do this much but is found wanting. The limitations cannot be such an insurmountable thing in one’s life. Certain situations can be beyond one’s ability to change or handle. This is when people resort to some higher power for assistance. For many, turn to witchdoctors for help. Unfortunately, witchdoctors, too, have limitations. The devil, too, has limitations. He is not the Almighty. Only God is the Almighty, the God who cannot fail.

26  Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
27  Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? 

Jeremiah 32: 26, 27

There is nothing too hard for God. All things are possible with Him. Therefore, He can be trusted with any situation, and His capable of handling and changing it for our good. Of course, God can do all things. Since He can do all things, God cannot sin. It is impossible for God to sin. It is impossible for God to lie. He said it Himself that He cannot lie.

18  So it is impossible for God to lie for we know that his promise and his vow will never change! And now we have run into his heart to hide ourselves in his faithfulness. This is where we find his strength and comfort, for he empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakeable hope!

Hebrews 6: 18

Man may have challenges in the area of faithfulness. Staying true to God’s word and fellow man can be a huge challenge to man. This is the reason why trusting in God’s ability becomes vitally important. Man has limitations and shortcomings. Here is Mary, a virgin who had been engaged to Joseph. And then an angel visits her to announce one of the greatest messages in the history of mankind: the birth of God. Humanly speaking, that was impossible. How can God be born through a mortal man? The next challenge was Mary’s circumstances. She was engaged to Joseph, as a virgin. She thought an angel was suggesting to her to do something the law had forbidden. She could not just fathom how that could happen. But God had already arranged from eternity how that could happen. The power of the Holy Spirit would come upon a mortal man, and he would conceive a Saviour. For Mary, that was impossible, but with God it was possible. The game-changer was her response to the possibility of God’s power: “Let it be according to your word.”

She submitted herself to God and surrendered all her limitations, fear, and shortcomings to God. The deal had consequences. She was going to be ostracized by the community. She was going to bring shame to her family. She was going to lose her man, Joseph. So, she had to count the cost of falling pregnant and claim there was no involvement of a man. That was ridiculous for any normal person to believe. She did not know how to explain it to her parents and Joseph. But with God all things are possible. You may not have answers for the situation you are going through, but trusting the situation with God may cause the situation to change for your good.
