The Comeback…

The Comeback…

By Apostle Felix

28  And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

Judges 16: 28

Samson’s life story is known almost by every ordinary believer. He was born as a Nazarite, one set apart for God. He was consecrated to the Lord since his birth and the parents were commanded never to cut his hair and allow him to drink any fermented drink. The strength he had, rested in his obedience to never cut his hair. He was called to deliver Israel from its enemies, the Philistines. Samson, though, did not live up to the standards of the Nazarite. He compromised when he touched the body of a dead lion he had earlier killed. A Nazarite was not allowed to touch a dead body. And finally, his hair was cut and lost the strength he had to conquer the Philistines with. As a result, his lost something very valuable for his earthly live, sight. He lost his eyes. He was caged and turned into a clown to perform before the Philistines and their gods. It was such a humiliating season of his life. With time, his hair grew back but his sight was not restored. Though the anointing was restored, Samson had lost all reason to live because of lost sight. His last option was to die together with the Philistines.

13  This “realm of death” describes our former state, for we were held in sin’s grasp. But now, we’ve been resurrected out of that “realm of death” never to return, for we are forever alive and forgiven of all our sins!
14  He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all—our sins, our stained soul—he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation.

Colossians 2: 13, 14

Thank God for His mercies toward us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Samson’s comeback ended in death with his enemies. But our comeback in Christ ends in life. We are not permitted to die together with our enemies because Jesus died on our behalf and defeated satan permanently. You and I were dead in sin and had no hope at all. But Jesus came and took our place of sin and defeat, and died our death so we can live. Your life shall not end like Samson, dying together with the enemy Jesus defeated. You may have had a bad life, but Jesus came so that you may have life and life more abundantly. He has not only allowed your hair to grow, which is the renewal of your relationship with Him, but He has also given you vision and purpose for your life. Your life has been restored in Christ. Your comeback is different from Samson’s comeback.
