Who We Are In Christ
By Apostle Felix
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.Galatians 3: 25 – 29
The most liberating truth in the Bible is the reality of our son-ship in Christ. Our identity in Christ is so powerful that the devil fights with his last breath that Christians stay ignorant of their identity in Christ. The devil cannot get to your possessions without passing through your identity. Your identity in Christ is your safety. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous run into and are safe, Proverbs 18: 10. A name is for identification. We respond to our names when our names are called out. There is safety in understanding our identity in Christ. The seven sons of Sceva did not know who they were in Christ, so the devils disgraced them. They were simply name-droppers. There many name-droppers in the church today, especially the church in Africa. They call God by their pastors’ or prophets’ names. The God of so and so. That’s pure foolishness.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?Acts 19: 14
Power and authority lies in understanding of our identity in Christ. We draw power and authority from our right standing with Christ. It is not our fasting that makes us powerful. It is the new birth. It is when Christ comes to live in us that transforms us into sons and daughters of God. It is the position in Christ that gives us authority over circumstances of life and the kingdom of darkness.
Adam had left his position of authority because he rejected the Christ (Life) and opted for sensual knowledge. God came and called for Adam, and asked where Adam was. It was not because God did not know where Adam was. Of course, God is all knowing and who would hide from the Lord. He asked for Adam’s sake.God had planted him in a place of power and authority, which he relinquished when he chose to identify himself with creation.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Genesis 3: 9
The first man, Adam was in total authority before the fall. The devil was no equal to man at all. The devil we know today was so insignificant in the presence of man before the fall. He even had to use the serpent’s image in order to communicate to man. The devil was hopelessly powerless before man. Who then empowered satan to such an extent that he became a god of this world. Man did. Man empowered satan.
6 He told Jesus, “I will give you all this authority, along with their glory, because it has been given to me, and I give it to anyone I please.
Luke 4: 6
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 Corinthians 4: 4
But thanks be to God, who has defeated and disarmed the devil through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was man who gave up his identity and took another man to claim it back. That another man is Jesus. He is called the last Adam. Through the glorious gospel, we have been made the righteousness of God and our souls are transformed. Christ reclaimed our position and we have been made to be seated with Him in heavenly places. It is a place of rest, power and authority. You cannot be located at such a lofty position and at the same time be filled with devils and curses as a believers. Get to know who you are and that will save you from so many abuses around.
4 Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world.
