The Importance of Fellowship 2

The Importance of Fellowship 2

By Apostle Felix

1. In the passage below, Jesus teaches that true greatness in His kingdom comes through serving others, emphasizing that His own mission was one of service.

42  Jesus gathered them all together and said to them, “Those recognized as rulers of the people and those who are in top leadership positions rule oppressively over their subjects, but this is not the example you are to follow.

Mark 10: 42

2.  This verse encourages believers to use their unique gifts to serve the church and one another, highlighting the idea of stewardship in relation to God’s grace.

10  Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.

1 Peter 4: 10

3.  Here, the role of church leaders is outlined as equipping believers for service, which contributes to the growth and maturity of the church body.

11  And he has appointed some with grace to be apostles, and some with grace to be prophets, and some with grace to be evangelists, and some with grace to be pastors, and some with grace to be teachers.
12  And their calling is to nurture and prepare all the holy believers to do their own works of ministry, and as they do this they will enlarge and build up the body of Christ.
13  These grace ministries will function until we all attain oneness in the faith, until we all experience the fullness of what it means to know the Son of God, and finally we become one perfect man with the full dimensions of spiritual maturity and fully developed in the abundance of Christ.

Ephesians 4: 11 – 13

The Importance of Serving in the Church

• Imitating Christ: Serving in the church reflects the character of Christ, following His example of selflessness and humility.
• Building Community: Service fosters a sense of community and belonging among church members, helping to strengthen relationships and unity.
• Developing Spiritual Gifts: Involvement in various ministries allows individuals to discover and develop their spiritual gifts, contributing to personal growth and fulfillment.
• Impacting Others: Through service, believers have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others, both within and outside the church, demonstrating faith in action.
How to Get Involved in Service
1. Assess Your Gifts and Interests: Think about your skills, interests, and passions. This self- assessment can guide you toward areas of service in which you can thrive and make a meaningful contribution.
2. Explore Church Ministries: We have various ministries such as children’s ministry, music, hospitality, outreach, teens, young adults, women’s, men’s, couples and many more. Take time to explore these opportunities and see where you might fit in.
3. Volunteer for Events: Churches often host events, reach outs, and programs
that need volunteers. Participating in these can be a great way to meet others and become more engaged.
4. Pray for Guidance: Seek God’s direction in how you can serve others. Prayer can be a powerful tool in discerning where you are called to contribute.
5. Connect with Leaders: Engage with church leaders to discuss needs within the church and how you might be able to help. They can provide insight and connect you with opportunities that align with your gifts.
Serving in the church is a vital expression of faith and commitment to following Christ. By reflecting His example of service, believers not only grow spiritually but also contribute to the health and vitality of the church community. As individuals engage in service, they embody the teachings of Jesus and help equip others in their walks of faith. Consider how you or your family might take steps toward serving in your local church and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
