The Content of the Blessing

The Content of the Blessing

By Apostle Felix

21  Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.

Proverbs 18: 21

10  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11  Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

James 3: 10, 11

Life and death are in the power of the tongue. It has the potential and ability to either build or destroy. It should not be underestimated. The words that leave our mouths plays a role in determining the outcome of lives. You cannot rise above the content of your vocabulary. You cannot expect a better life when the mouth is ever producing words of hardship. Hardship may come uninvited but the words our mouths are speaking determine whether the situation will turn in our favor or against. Jesus said it in this way…

23  Listen to the truth I speak to you: If someone says to this mountain with great faith and having no doubt, ‘Mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the midst of the sea,’ and believes that what he says will happen, it will be done.

Mark 11: 23

Words are containers of power, either for good or bad. They are the blessing or the curse. The word, translated as blessing in James chapter three verse nine is Eulogeo in Greek, which means to speak well of, to praise, to celebrate with praises, acknowledging His goodness. It is the concept that has been borrowed and used to eulogize the dead. We normally listen to eulogies on funerals and rarely to we hear eulogies when a baby is born. I think the best time to eulogize someone is when they are born, not when they die. God does not eulogize us when we die but way before we are born into this world.

5  Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1: 5

God, your Father knew you before you were born and He ordained you to be a somebody. God ordains His children by His word. He calls you great before the manifestation of greatness. He calls you by your true nature and not by the circumstances around you. The true you is one that is not visible to the eye of man. Do not judge a person by their current situation. Man is full of surprises because his or her potential is way beyond what man sees. David was overlooked because he did not fit man’s description of greatness. Man can write you off, but God always affirms who you are in Him. Gideon is an example of a man that had written himself off because of his circumstances. Bur God had a different narrative of his life.

12  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

Judges 6: 12

Do not carry around the content of your circumstances in your mouth, but carry around the content of the blessing. The content of the blessing is Genesis chapter one verse twenty eight,

28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

God blessed man and said. And what God said is the content of the blessing – fruitfulness, multiplication, replenishing, subduing and dominion. It does not matter how it looks like all around you. What matters is the content of your words from your mouth. Speak the blessing in the dry place, and dryness shall end. God spoke into Sarah’s condition of barreness and dryness ended. The following year Sarah had a baby boy. Do not be discouraged by what you see. Speak the content of the blessing. God did and there was. So, you can and there will be.
