The Gospel of Freedom

1  Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past.

Galatians 5: 1 

Ignorance of the word of God is the worst enemy of mankind. The devil’s weapon against man is ignorance. Men go into captivity due to ignorance.

13  Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge…

Isaiah 5: 13

Its ignorance that empowers satan in people’s circumstances.The devil is as powerful as one’s ignorance. Ignorance is not something that goes away by prayer. We cannot pray ignorance away. It goes away by the presence of God’s knowledge. Jesus was made manifest to destroy the works of the devil.

8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3: 8

Jesus, the word of God manifested in the flesh to be the light of the world. What man needs is the light to shine forth in the recess of his heart. It is impossible to experience freedom when man remains in the dark. Man was trapped in darkness and Jesus came to save him from the yoke of darkness.

4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 

John 1: 4, 5

The gospel is the light of God shining in the hearts of men. Therefore, it is the preaching of the gospel that sets men free. The liberating truth is the preaching that reveals the Christ to the people. Jesus asked His disciples what people said He was. Even the disciples did not know who He was, but God, the Father revealed to Peter  the revelation of who Christ was. It is on that revelation that JESUS said He will build His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16: 15 – 18

The truth sets free, and the truth is Jesus. He, Himself said I AM the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. He does not have the truth, but He is the truth. Preaching Christ is the gospel that sets people free. The Psalmist said that the entrance of the word brings light. Jesus, the word brings light into people’s life when preached and revealed. This morning, I pray that your life encounters the truth that liberates. Every area of your life to be affected by the light of His word.
