The Detours In Vision Pursuit 1

The Detours In Vision Pursuit

By Apostle Felix

10  And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.
11  And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
12  And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.

1 Samuel 18: 10 – 12

David was anointed with oil by a very well renown prophet in Israel, Samuel. The anointing he had received was authentic. He was not anointed by fly by night prophet. This is the same prophet who had anointed Saul for kingship. He was a well respected figure in Israel. This was a man who was brought up under the tutelage of the high priest, Eli. His words carried so much weight in the national affairs of Israel. This man was greater in spiritual authority than the king. When king Saul disobeyed God, it was Samuel that rebuked and announced the end of his kingship over Israel. So, for David to have been anointed by Samuel, his destine was sealed. I believe David had no doubts about the anointing he had received for his kingship.

13  Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 16: 13

David had no idea that one day he will be a fugitive, running from the most powerful king of the time. He found himself living in caves and in foreign lands as an asylum seeker. His entire life went on a detour. He did not plan it or did he envision it. It was a detour that was came as a result of the anointing he had received. The anointing changed his life. Probably, his initial vision was to be a great shepherd. Probably, he dreamed of becoming the supplier of meat in the world of his time. But the day the anointing touched his life, his vision experienced a detour. From that day on, he started seeing himself as a king. It was a detour from seeing himself as a shepherd to seeing himself as a king. The anointing has a tendency of changing the course of our lives. Apostle Paul was one of them. He saw himself as a defender of the law before, but after the anointing, he saw himself as a grace propagator. That was a detour. David had several portions of detours in his life.

Samuel was a type of Christ in the Old Testament. His birth was a miracle because the mother, Hannah for many years was unable to conceive. But when she interceded, God heard her and conceived. She had vowed to dedicate the child born to the Lord. And that she did when Samuel was born. The boy, Samuel grew up in the presence of God and was consumed with zeal for the house of the Lord. He became the embodiment of the voice of God at the time when the voice of God was rare.

1  Meanwhile the boy Samuel was serving the LORD before Eli. A word from the LORD was rare in those days, and visions were infrequent.

1 Samuel 3: 1

Jesus too, was born at a time when the word of the Lord was rare. His birth was miraculous. His mission too was to raise a nation of kings and priests, whose vision was to reign through righteousness. Samuel had a shadow mission. He was raised to anoint kings over Israel. However, the anointing came at a cost to detour visions.

Before David ascended the throne, he experienced the most bitter detours in his life. The detours were not due to sin in his life but because of the vision. You may be wondering at what is happening in your life. Oftentimes, someone will even start seeking prayers so that they can be delivered from the detours. It is not possible to pray away the detours. David had to go through it all and then ascended the throne. Even when he was on the throne, he had some gruesome detours of his life. Whatever detour you might be going through at this very hour, focus on the vision. People may misunderstand you, leave you, reject you, despise you, ignore you, and speak ill of you, and label you bad. Do not focus on that, but the vision. On a detour, people may mistaken you for someone who has no vision or did not hear God clearly.
