From the Cross To The Throne

From The Cross To The Throne

By Apostle Felix

2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12: 2

We have heard it said before that taking short cuts in life can cut short your life. Of course, we have seen and witnessed numerous incidences when individuals wanted to make it big without going through the process. This is when we hear people talk about, ‘Favour no labour.’ The statement may sound spiritual but it is one of those nice catchy phrases for the purpose of impressing.  Any success that avoids labour is a fraud. Labour is one of the processes to a fruitful life. You cannot rise on favour alone. God gave both favour and labour to man.

52  And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Luke 2: 52

Though, Christ had favour with both God and man, He was a worker. He worked as a carpenter before He began ministering and He worked as a minister of the gospel. He was not a lazy man, who wanted to take short cuts to gain a place pf prominence. At the end of His ministry, Jesus had to go to the cross in order to get to the throne. Salvation is a product of the death, burial and the resurrection of our Lord of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have cases of individuals that travel far and wide collecting anointings from other men and women of God. They want the anointing or rather the throne and they don’t want the cross. If you desire an anointing and life of somebody, get to study their lifestyles. How do they live and do things. Do not just covet that which they have, but study how they got it.

1  Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11: 1

Jesus told His disciples to carry their crosses and follow Him. Jesus understood the nature of man of wanting the throne without the cross. His disciples were ever arguing about who will sit at Jesus’ right and left hands. They were all eyeing the throne without the cross in view. They did not know before the throne, there was a cross. When the day came for Jesus to be taken to the cross, they all deserted Him. For them, the cross was a shameful defeat. Bu little did they know that the cross in fact was a path way to the throne.

24  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Matthew 16: 24

Peter sternly rebuked Jesus because He began to talk about His death to them. Death was not in their plan of attaining power. They wanted power but without pain or death. Jesus then I cautioned them about carrying their crosses and follow Him. The cross is a place of self denial, a place of surrender to the Lord. Power is for those that have died to self. God does not promote self, but His nature. He promotes His character. We have several examples in the Bible of people that carried their crosses such as Joseph, David and apostle Paul. They had their seasons of carrying their crosses before they experienced the power and limelight. Do not despise the small beginnings, especially as a minister of the gospel. Do not be a hurry to make it big fast. Follow the process and be patient.
