The Boldness of the Righteous
By Apostle Felix
14 So then, we must cling in faith to all we know to be true. For we have a magnificent King-Priest, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who rose into the heavenly realm for us, and now sympathizes with us in our frailty.
15 He understands humanity, for as a Man, our magnificent King-Priest was tempted in every way just as we are, and conquered sin.
16 So now we come freely and boldly to where love is enthroned, to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness.Hebrews 4: 14, 15, 16
Sin makes cowards of men. Man became a coward the day he sinned against the Lord. He ran away with his wife to hide from the Lord. Fear is sin-based. Jesus was constantly reprimanding His disciples over the fearful responses to circumstances of life. It looks like God is allergic to fear. It is very clear that He constantly spoke to the people to fear not. Fear is a sign that one is not in right standing with God. He spoke the young Timothy about fear not been from God.
7 For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.
2 Timothy 1: 7
Fear is not of God, and God expects His children not to be fearful. The believer’s boldness is of God, through Christ Jesus. Jesus, who incarnated as man was tempted in every way as we are, yet lived a sinless life while here on earth. He conquered sin that makes cowards of men. As man, Jesus identified with man’s weaknesses but yet overcame. So, therefore, when we identify with Him in His victorious resurrection, we have dominion over sin. Our boldness is the product of Christ’s victory over sin and because He overcame we have received grace that has empowered us over sin as well. Every born again person is in Christ and has been clothed with the righteousness of God, and that has position has made us bold.
Fear torments but perfect love casts away fear. The motivation behind observing the law is not love. It’s fear motivated. Whoever wants to relate with God based on observing the law, will be driven by fear.
18 Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.
1 John 4: 18
No man born of love will continue living in fear, because fear and love cannot cohabit. God is love. He does not have love, but He is love. Real love was made manifest in Christ when He died our death and gave us His life because He loves us. When we accept the love of God, we have accepted to receive salvation by grace through faith. Salvation by grace then casts away fear, and makes a believer bold and courageous.
