The Believer’s Authority
By Apostle Felix
19 Now you understand that I have imparted to you all my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority.
20 However, your real source of joy isn’t merely that these spirits submit to your authority, but that your names are written in the journals of heaven and that you belong to God’s kingdom. This is the true source of your authority.”Luke 10: 19, 20
Child of God, you have authority in Christ over satan and his cohorts. This is not a matter of debate or something you have to convince satan about. Satan is very aware of it and he wonders why you do not exercise that amazing authority in Christ. Different versions of the Bible use either authority or power. The Greek word translated power is ‘exousia’, which means delegated authority, power, right, or jurisdiction stemming from the idea of “what is lawful.” It signifies legitimate power, often granted by God, allowing someone to act.
A believer in Christ is not just mere man, who is void of power and can be dominated by any other power. A believer is a container of God’s power. The power of God is domiciled in a believer in totality. This power has been conferred upon you as a believer by God. It is delegated authority. You are not acting on your own authority but by His authority. The people in Jesus’ day were amazed by His feats and subscribed that to authority.
27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
Mark 1: 27
However, Jesus acknowledged the source of His authority, which was God, the Father. He knew that it was impossible to exercise authority without submission to a higher authority. Jesus, being God humbled and submitted Himself to God, the Father. He was a man under authority. He did all He did because He was a man under authority.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
John 10: 25
Your authority is as a result of your relationship you have with God in Christ. Your position as a child of God has given all the rights to exercise God’s authority. The Bible tells us that God has given us power to be called sons of God.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1: 12
The word power there in John chapter one verse twelve is exousia, which is delegated authority. Authority is give to you as soon as you are born into the kingdom of God through Christ. Our responsibility now is to allow the word of God to enlighten us regarding that truth. This is the reason why Jesus said that the knowledge of the truth shall set us free. And Jesus is the TRUTH. Power is not necessarily knowing about the power, but knowing the Christ. This is because the knowledge of Christ drives us deeper into understanding who we truly are in Christ. May you know Christ this season. May you walk in power. Do not be afraid of village witches and sorcerers as you visit your people this December. There is no witch or sorcerer that can harm you at all. If Jesus said it then that settles it.
