The Blessing Is Your Birthright

3  Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because he sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate him with all our hearts!
4  And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence. 

Ephesians 1: 3, 4

The blessing is your birthright. God designed the blessing to be inherited as a birthright. Esau, the twin brother of Jacob was the first born of Isaac and was entitled to inherit the Abrahamic blessing as his birthright. But he despised his birthright when he chose food over the birthright. For Esau, food was more important than the birthright. The momentarily satisfaction overwhelmed his judgement. The Bible calls Esau’s decision as immoral.

16  Be careful that no one among you lives in immorality, becoming careless about God’s blessings, like Esau who traded away his rights as the firstborn for a simple meal. 

Hebrews 12: 16

The blessing of the Lord is your birthright in Christ. You were blessed the day you got born again. The sooner you realize that the better. You are not going to be blessed by you have been blessed. It is the blessing of the blessing that commands the goodness of the Lord in your life. The blessing of the Lord upon your life is like a reactor that responds to your word responses. The blessing of the Lord is inherent in every believer awaiting manifestation. However, believers await to feel blessed in order to be a blessing. You just need to believe that you are blessed. A nuclear reactor is a controlled and self-sustaining energy that has the potential of destruction once detonated. Is the energy there? Yes, the energy is there but in hibernated state. Once activated, has the potential to wipe out and destroy lives. O the contrary, the blessing of the Lord upon your live is not for destruction, but to make other people’s lives better.

One day, while driving to church and ready to preach, the Lord spoke me and said, ‘Don’t go and tell My people that they will be blessed.’ Rather, tell them that they are blessed and as blessed people they need to be a blessing. It is not our doing that makes us blessed, but what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us. There is no amount perform that can make God to bless you. It is the Lord’s perfect work that has made us blessed. Now that we have been blessed, we have no excuse at all not to do what the Lord has requires of us. For example, the blessing of the Lord makes us to be generous. No blessed  person should be stingy. Stinginess is the denial of who we are in Christ and what Christ has made us to be – the blessed.

1  Beloved ones, we must tell you about the grace God poured out upon the churches of Macedonia.
2  For even during a season of severe difficulty and tremendous suffering, they became even more filled with joy. From the depths of their extreme poverty, super-abundant joy overflowed into an act of extravagant generosity. 

2 Corinthians 8: 1, 2

Here is a Macedonian church that gave not because they had abundance, but because they were aware of the purpose of the blessing upon them. They gave from the abundance of what the Lord had done for them. They did not consider their circumstances as such. Blessed people look beyond themselves and consider the needs of others. Blessed people serve God out of their conviction of what the Lord has done for them. These are men and women who do not first consult the weather in order to give to the work of God. They consult the blessing. Therefore, they flourish in every season of life. You are blessed, beloved.
