The Prophetic Nature of God’s Word

18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 

Luke 4: 18, 19

The Lord is a faithful God. He is not man that should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent, Number 23: 19. He is the same all the time. He does not change, like shifting shadows. He is not moody like man can be. Neither does He react to circumstances like man does. Neither can He be taken by surprise. It is impossible for God to be stranded in life and He does not know what to do. He knows all things. This is because His knowledge is infinite. The immensity of God’s nature is far beyond human understanding. He cannot be predicated, or manipulated to act against His written word. His word is for ever settled. It is either you and I align ourselves with His word or we live in violation. But God cannot bend to satisfy our desires on the expense of the violation of His word. He is bound only to perform His word.

12  Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. 

Jeremiah 1: 12

I fell very sick in the year 1999, when I was in Bible college. I felt like dying and the entire school woke, including the college principal and the lecturers. They were all praying for me not to die. While everyone was praying, I was pleading with the Lord to at least give me few more days so I can go and say bye to my sisters. While pleading with the Lord, His voice boomed in my spirit, saying, ‘live a prophetic life.’ The voice was loud and clear, but I did not understand the message fully. And then, He continued and said, ‘My word is prophetic nature.’ Immediately understood what the Lord was hinting to me. My life is located in the word of God. I have to allow the word of God to influence my decisions and emotions than the circumstances at hand. I then turned from seeing myself dead to seeing myself living. As soon as I shifted my focus from the sickness and the pain to the word of God, all the affliction was lifted off of me. And I shouted and said, ‘I am healed.’ I stopped everyone from praying. They were all shocked by my behavior and the principal and lecturers decided to take me to the hospital in the night. The doctor did not find anything wrong in my body after all the examinations.

18  And we ourselves heard that voice resound from the heavens while we were with him on the holy mountain.
19  And so we have been given the prophetic word—the written message of the prophets, made more reliable and fully validated by the confirming voice of God on the Mount of Transfiguration. And you will continue to do well if you stay focused on it. For this prophetic message is like a piercing light shining in a gloomy place until the dawning of a new day, when the Morning Star rises in your hearts.

2 Peter 1: 18, 19

The experience taught me that the word of God is the sure prophecy. The biblical prophetic ministry is not about predicting world events and giving personal information to people. That can happen but it is not what defines the prophetic ministry. The prophetic ministry is interpreting the message of the prophets by the Holy Spirit. The interpretation should be about the testimony of Christ, which is the spirit of prophecy, Revelation 19: 10. The insight the Lord had given helped me to subject every prophetic utterance either from my mouth or any man’s mouth.

The word of God is prophetic in nature can also mean that I can resist anything the devil throws at me. I came to understand that I am the healed, whom the devil wants to afflict. I am not trying to get healed, no, but I have already been healed in Christ. I am not pleading for healing from the Lord, I have it already and I protect it from any defiled from the enemy. I am the blessed. I am the favored. I am the healed. I am the delivered. I am righteousness of God. I am holy. I am above only. Saints, you are not trying to become. You have already been made. Stand strong therefore, and resist the enemy.

13  Remember to stay alert and hold firmly to all that you believe. Be mighty and full of courage.
