Knowing The Father

Knowing The Father

By Apostle Felix

7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

John 14: 7 – 9

God had always wanted to make Himself known to man but the barrier of sin had been standing in the way. From the garden of Eden, man had been running away from God because of his sinful condition. Instead God decided to reveal Himself in types and shadows. The Old Testament is a document of types and shadows of God. He concealed Himself in natural elements, in order to relate with man. But that was not God’s ultimate plan, His plan was to come to earth in the form of man. So God decided to be born as man, so He may fulfill all the types and shadows in the Person of Christ.

13  He was not born by the joining of human parents or from natural means, or by a man’s desire, but he was born of God.
14  And so the Living Expression became a man and lived among us! And we gazed upon the splendor of his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father overflowing with tender mercy and truth!

John 1: 13, 14

God in His infinite wisdom and power obeyed Himself to be born in human body and subjected Himself to human frailties. By human frailties, I mean that God, in the Person of Jesus was subject to temptation, hunger, sleep and was limited in His knowledge and space. Jesus prayed because He was not all knowing in His humanity state. He identified Himself with man so that He could be known by man.

17  This is why he had to be a Man and take hold of our humanity in every way. He made us his brothers and sisters and became our merciful and faithful King-Priest before God; as the One who removed our sins to make us one with him.
18  He suffered and endured every test and temptation, so that he can help us every time we pass through the ordeals of life.

Hebrews 2: 17, 18

Since it was impossible for God to interact with man in His fullness as God, He then decided to lower Himself to man’s level. He took up a body which was prepared for Him. The culmination of God and the human body is what the Bible calls the Son of God. Jesus was the word before He was born as the Son of God. The Word is God, and this Word became flesh and was called the Son of God.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  The same was in the beginning with God.

John 1: 1, 2

Therefore, God the father can only be known through Christ Jesus. He cannot be known through any other way. Jesus said to the disciples that if they had seen Him then they had seen the Father because Him and the Father are one. No man can know God without knowing Christ. It is shocking that people are attempting to know God while learning about satan. We see and hear some preachers who have been called to expose satan. What a calling. Jesus never said to His disciples to go and expose satan but He emphatically commanded them to be witnesses of His death, burial and resurrection. It is the preaching of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection that shines in the heart of men, eliminating darkness.

2Co 4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

2 Corinthians 4: 4

3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Hebrews 1: 3
