Another Gospel

3  But now I’m afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s clever lies, your thoughts may be corrupted and you may lose your single-hearted devotion and pure love for Christ. 
4  For you seem to gladly tolerate anyone who comes to you preaching a pseudo-Jesus, not the Jesus we have preached. You have accepted a spirit and gospel that is false, rather than the Spirit and gospel you once embraced. How tolerant you have become of these imposters! 

2 Corinthians 11: 3, 4

Apostle Paul was concerned about the drifting of the Corinthian believers to another gospel that he never taught. False apostles had infiltrated the church and had infiltrated the church with the false gospel. The church easily fell for the false gospel and Paul likened that to how the devil deceived Eve. The devil approached Eve in the presence of Adam, who was the first recipient of the word from God. Adam, as someone who had received the word, informed Eve about what God had commanded him to do. In order to avoid the woman from even going near the tree, Adam told her that God does not want us even to touch the tree. God never said that. He had only told  Adam not to eat from the tree.

3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

The Bible warns us against adding or subtracting from the word of God. The moment one adds or subtracts from the word of God, then it ceases to be the word of God. God does not want to be assisted by man with the delivery of the revelation concerning Him. The moment we assist God with the delivery of the revelation of God, then God will cease to be God. God is more than enough all by Himself.

32  Now as to everything I’m commanding you, you must be careful to observe it. Don’t add to or subtract from it.” 

Deuteronomy 12: 32

God is self revelatory. And Jesus Christ is the revelation of God. There is no other revelation outside Christ. God can only be known in Christ. This is the reason why the doctrine of Christ is paramount to our christian faith. We need to know Christ in the manner He revealed Himself, without adding or subtracting. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to come and help us with the knowledge of Christ. God cannot be known in the flesh.

26  “And I will send you the Divine Encourager from the very presence of my Father. He will come to you, the Spirit of Truth, emanating from the Father, and he will speak to you about me. 

John 15: 26

The Holy Spirit speaks to us about Christ, nothing else. He will speak about Jesus and mention other things. He will not be speaking about the devils and only mention Jesus. The moment other things become the subject and Christ is simply mentioned, then it is another gospel and it is not the spirit of God. It is the message that makes a church a church. It is not the chanting of the name of Jesus. The message taught and preached determines the Jesus that is exalted in the church. The message of the gospel of Christ is the one the Holy Spirit teaches us. So then, when another gospel is taught and preached will attract another spirit, which is not the Holy Spirit. The teaching on demonology is not what scares the devils. Jesus never had a teaching on demons, no. But everywhere He went, the demons were terrified. Because He was the Christ. Teach and preach Christ and the devils will not stand at all.

23  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
