A Big No To “Fear”
By Apostle Felix
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1: 7
The first man, Adam and Eve had no fear before sin entered their lives. Fear came as the result of the fall from grace. God had created man to live and operate in His grace. God rested on the seventh day when He had finished with creation. Man was created on the sixth day, and God put man, whom He created in Eden, which is the presence of God, a place of rest and grace. In that environment of God’s presence, man had absolute control over circumstances and had zero fear. The evidence of zero fear was that man used to fellowship with God without any sense of condemnation or inferiority complex. He was confident in the presence of God and had meaningful fellowship.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?Genesis 3: 8, 9
Fear is a product of falling from grace. The worst fear is not the fear of dogs or snakes. They are individuals around who are not afraid of snakes. The snake charmers handle snakes like toys. They are others who keep snakes for pets. However, these men and women who may appear fearless before these animals are fearful before God. Some, manifest their fear through the rejection of God’s existence. These are called atheists. Atheism is just a manifestation of fear. While others resort to practicing religion. The fear of the unknown spiritual world drives them to serve the unknown gods. India is infested with strange gods and that has created a fearful environment.
1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
Exodus 32: 1
The children of Israel asked for another god because they did not know what had happened to Moses on the mountain. The fear of losing Moses, who knew God provoked fear in their midst. These men did not know God and all they knew were the Egyptian gods. In order to hide their fear, they resorted to the Egyptian gods. We can see this behavior with today’s believers. The inclination to relying on so called ‘spiritual materials’, is due to fear of satan and demons. The elements are advertised as spiritual materials that can protect one from the demonic attacks. We see believers wearing and carrying elements from prophets. Fear is at the centre for such practices. The false prophets understand their trade very well and the only way they can sell their products is by probing fear in their followers.
Mat 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
Mat 8:25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
Mat 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.Matthew 24, 25, 26
Jesus was sleeping in the midst of a storm. He was at rest, and never panicked. He had zero fear because of the relationship He had with the Father. Jesus in the boat was grace personified. The disciples were afraid because they didn’t know whom they were with in the boat. To them, Jesus was just a mere man like anybody else. But this was God with them in the boat. Instead of panicking, the disciples were supposed to look to Him and rest in His rest. Looking to Jesus eliminates every fear from our lives. It is the looking to Him that imparts faith in us. Faith is the product of looking to Jesus, who is the word of God.
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
