Sustaining Spirituality for Growth
By Apostle Felix
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40: 29, 31
Every person on earth goes through seasons of weariness and discouragement, as no one is immune to the changing seasons of life. No matter how powerful or influential you may be, you cannot avoid these inevitable cycles. Just as in nature, life’s seasons repeat year after year. If you fail to plant during this rainy season, it does not mean it will never rain again; while you may have missed one specific window, another opportunity for planting is always on the horizon. Although you might have heard the saying that a missed season is an opportunity forever lost, we serve a God who is a restorer. For God to operate as a Restorer, there must first be something broken or lost that requires restoration. Therefore, do not give up!
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
Proverbs 24: 5
The Lord gives power to the faint and increases strength to the weak, primarily by providing divine knowledge. Natural and spiritual seasons affect every person passing through them; a rainy season falls indiscriminately upon the rich and the poor, the righteous and the wicked alike. When the downpour begins, it will soak anyone caught outside unprotected. However, a person who wisely carries an umbrella before the storm starts will keep their clothes dry, unlike the person who failed to prepare.
The fundamental difference between these two individuals lies in their understanding of the seasons and the specific preparations made for them. Consistently carrying an umbrella every single day prevents you from getting caught off guard when the weather turns. Ultimately, it is not the rain itself that causes a person to become soaked, but rather their inability to maintain the daily discipline of carrying their protection. This mirrors the reality of our faith; as Jesus warned us, in this world you will have tribulation, but we are commanded to be of good cheer because He has already overcome the world.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16: 33
Do not live as though trouble does not exist in this world. Instead, anticipate life’s challenges but intentionally anchor your spiritual life in God. Consistently sustaining your spiritual disciplines ensures continuous growth, regardless of the season you find yourself in. Human nature often drives people to retreat from difficulties and search for an easy way out, while others try to evade tough seasons entirely—but these cycles simply cannot be avoided.
This is precisely why the prophet Isaiah encourages us to wait upon the Lord at all times. When facing a trial, actively seek the knowledge and wisdom of God tailored to that specific challenge, remembering that it is the entrance of His Word that brings illuminating light into our lives. God and His Word are your ultimate source of strength. Whenever you do not know what to do next, run to God and search the Scriptures. Read His Word and pray fervently for divine wisdom; He will faithfully direct your steps, even when it is raining cats and dogs.
