Benefits of Serving God 2

Benefits of Serving God 2

By Apostle Felix

23  Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord himself and not merely for others.
24  For we know that we will receive a reward, an inheritance from the Lord, as we serve the Lord Yahweh, the Anointed One!
25  A disciple will be repaid for what he has learned and followed, for God pays no attention to the titles or prestige of men.

Colossians 3: 23 – 25

10  Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.
11  For example, if you have a speaking gift, speak as though God were speaking his words through you. If you have the gift of serving, do it passionately with the strength God gives you, so that in everything God alone will be glorified through Jesus Christ. For to him belong the power and the glory forever throughout all ages! Amen.

1 Peter 4: 10, 11

Every believer in Christ has been given gifts for service. God did not necessarily give us titles, but rather spiritual gifts. We do not have to serve God to gain a title; instead, let us serve Him simply because we love Him and His people. Unfortunately, some believers are more obsessed with being served than serving others. True leadership is defined by servanthood, not masterhood. Jesus perfectly illustrated this by washing His disciples’ feet as an ultimate sign of a servant’s heart.

Initially, Peter refused to let Jesus wash his feet because he believed that leadership meant a powerful person being served by the less powerful. In response, Jesus gave Peter a strict ultimatum: allow Him to wash his feet and continue as His disciple, or refuse and be cut off from Him entirely. Jesus insisted on this because He knew that if Peter blocked this act of humility, he would develop an arrogant mindset—expecting everyone to serve him like a self-entitled ruler.

Serving others is also a clear sign of spiritual maturity. Babies and small children must be served because they are too young to do certain things on their own. However, as they grow, they are expected to take on chores around the house. A child denied the opportunity to serve through basic household responsibilities often becomes an irresponsible adult later in life. These are the individuals who cannot even fry an egg for themselves, let alone clean their own bedrooms. Beloved child of God, serving God and others is ultimately not for the sole benefit of others, but for your own spiritual growth and maturity.

Benefits

1. Serving the Lord enriches one’s spiritual life towards God.

2. We can only become disciple makers through service.

3. Spiritual growth happens when we become doers of the word of God.

4. We become a positive beneficiary of sowing and reaping.

8  The harvest you reap reveals the seed that was planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self – life into this natural realm, you can expect to experience a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life you will reap the beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit.
